    Yes looks to be a black bear. I did not know they were that far north from Border or east form the pine woods of east TX and LA.
    On the Texas Bowhunter website a lady posted a video she shot in a blind near Leakey of a black bear raiding a deer feeder. That was several years ago.

    I don't doubt that.
    There is a small black bear sometimes called a Mexican Grizzly or Honey Bear that inhabited early Texas. They were eliminated and were very very rare until somewhat recently.
    As I understand it a small population survived in the northern Mexico mountain regions and they've been known to wander north in Texas.
    In the 1980's I had a couple of fishing buddies that swore on their Mother's honor they saw a small black bear on the bank of the Guadalupe river near Rebecca Creek.
    Some have been seen in East Texas although these are probably drifted in from Arkansas and/or Louisiana.
