    Banning disposable bags.............
    http://www.dailytexanonline.com/news/2012/03/02/austin-city-council-impose-ban-plastic-paper-bags

After five years of discussion, an ordinance banning disposable bags in Austin passed at about 2 a.m. today.
The ordinance will take effect March 1, 2013 and will prohibit plastic bags and paper bags from being distributed by retailers within Austin city limits. City council will continue to discuss specifics of the ban, and amendments are still possible.

Wow... I was watch my dog take a dump this morning, if these douche bags have nothing better to do with their time, I have several windows they can utilize to watch my dog take a shit... It would be more constructive.... Perhaps had they offered an incentive to business owners to move towards such a thing... Follow Sam's Club's lead... Etc...etc... Carry on..

You know what I see when I read crap like that happening in Texas? I see California or West Coast transplants transforming once free Texas into the same failed state. Stop these people every chance you get, or Texas will be California in another twenty years. As a famous radio host often says, don't doubt me on this.

So now...I will be using oversized trash bags for everything instead of recycling these right-sized for my trash can bags. They have just increased the amount of plastic bag material that my girlfriend and I put in landfills. When we had too many bags, we'd turn them in.

I personally hate to see people throwing these bags in landfills after single use. But I hate government sticking their nose everywhere even more.

Being prepared sometimes means you have to take unconventional paths.

    10 bags per week * 52 weeks a year * 20 years = 10400

    $13.26 * 10.4 = 137.90
I just solved this problem for the rest of my life for less than $150. Unless, you know, mere possession becomes a crime.

What gets me about these bans is they often talk about all the "litter" they cause. Really? Where's the environmental slaughter? I see a whole lot of nothing in the way of pollution from these trash bags in my travels around the country. Carries as much weight as the "save a tree" myth when they urge people to not use paper products. Total bulls***. Much of the paper used is recycled (and what isn't is biodegradable in landfills), and what is cut new from trees mostly goes to building lumber, etc., which are replaced by a perpetually sustaining lumber industry planting new tracts after they cut. Environmentalist wackos encouraging power-hungry politicians and abetted by a sensationalistic media equals tyranny for you and me. I'm absolutely fed up with this whole environmentalist movement, as if you couldn't tell.

city council here is looking at banning plastic bags here also..... the problem is with litterbugs not the bags themselves.... smoking ban, plastic bag ban, whats next?

Let's see.......if your city council continues to follow the California model then laundry detergent, cat food placed outdoors, gas-powered leaf blowers and mowers, indoor thermostats, and no fire rings on local lake beaches will all be next. Are you having fun yet?

The USA is "eat off the sidewalk" clean compared to other countries I have visited. Moscow, especially was horribly polluted. My white sneakers became gray and I desperately needed eyedrops, but none available there. There is a connection between private property rights and pollution levels. Owners take care of their property. The enviro wackos act like its just the USA causing global warming.

It's all about control. Whether it's "public safety" (gun control) or "environmental", it all boils down to the socialists believing that they are the enlightened ones who should be running everyone else's life. Hey, that method works great in an ant colony!

I don't know that it's really the fault of people who move here from other places. Most of them come here to get away from that crap. (Look at the number of folks that post on here that they are happy to leave The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.)

The fault lies with all of those people who believe that someone should run their lives and take care of them. (Hint: they voted for Obama.) They teach our kids that crap in schools. Even the kids smart enough not to buy into it are numbed by the exposure so that they think it's just normal.

Those of us who don't live in Austin have happily stood by and watched the place turn into Kalifornia-lite. Austin became sort of a leper colony for the libs. But just like mosquitoes or other parasites, those damn things keep multiplying and spreading. Before long, they're all over the place.

No one commented on the "public input" phase.
To show how enlightened they are, the council opened this up to public comment from midnight to 2am on a school night - Thur.

    Amazingly not much public opposition!!
