But did it come back?I popped one with exactly that cartridge two or three nights ago. It jumped around then ran off.

Just saw it on the camera a few minutes ago. Well, can't be sure it was the same one, but it looked like the same size. But did it come back?
I know all that. I'm cool with possums in general. But they've been killing our chickens lately so these couple that have been coming to the coop get the rope.
Years ago I killed a couple possums that were stealing duck eggs and killing young ducklings.I know all that. I'm cool with possums in general. But they've been killing our chickens lately so these couple that have been coming to the coop get the rope.
Sad, but you got to protect your pets and stock.Years ago I killed a couple possums that were stealing duck eggs and killing young ducklings.

and to all the others posting about 22 subs...22lr to the head of a raccoon or opossum does work.
A body shot will stop them from eating.
More that I don't want to scare neighbors or deer. I did manage to get the CCI subs working well enough.I've shot 100gr hornady half jacket plinkers from 18" BO carbine, no problem. 5gr cfe pistol gives a pop, 8gr will almost cycle pistol gas. 231 works as well. 110 vmax isn't too costly. They weren't sub and not real quiet. The bang is from the hot high pressure supersonic gas hitting air at the he muzzle. Fast powder pressure is low at the muzzle so quieter. Rifle slow powder gives higher pressure at the muzzle. Cci has good sub 22lr ammo. Noise problem due to kids? Or neighbors?
