    LMAO! And at his reply.

I wonder if the rope wouldn't have been better for the tree instead of the chain since it has some give.
I have a tow strap but like a cable, they tend to slingshot very badly when they give out. Even the chains flew pretty good when they gave. Very dangerous.

Ropes and straps are good for pulling vehicles when you need a jerk.

If I had the rope with me I sure would have given it a try.

I agree on that point. Ropes are much lighter than chain and can have some advantage for getting trucks out of the mud or general towing, but stretch like cable and go flying if stretched to far.

Even a small cable can do some flange when it snaps.

I might just put the rope in the work truck in case I get it stuck again some day.

Thanks Greg. It is coming along nicely. A couple more good days and it should be about done. Dropping the spare to get to the front of the bed and back of the cab is gonna be fun.

The paint looks great. Thanks for taking time to post pics.

On the tree, I would treat it like eating an elephant. One bite at a time brother. You can risk a lot of damage and injury in a situation like that. It's better to take a big bastard like that down with a saw and some well thought out ropes. It takes longer, but like Greg said, it does work.

That truck of yours is a beast, I am still jealous:green:

We were surprised how tight the tree was stuck. He had one fall in his yard already that had a very weak root system. That is why we tackled it this way, and we were wrong!

It is one of those situations where you see it not working out as planned but you are just too committed to stop. We should have just pulled and cut and ground the stump. But again, too committed.

The weather seems to be holding so far so hopefully the painting can continue.
