No problems. Anything bigger seemed to only be unreliable garbage per the interwebs, so I went with these. Maybe one day I’ll get a drum for it.

If I had to pick one it would be an M14 or M1A, had an M1A for a very short spell and sold it before ever shooting it. But the feel of the rifle the cartridge and the nostalgia far outweigh that of the M16 in my book of thought.

The M14 I was issued in BCT had a bent barrel. Quite en embarrassing situation for me at the range the first 2 days until our Battalion Commander examined it and said the barrel was bent. After that, each morning I went to guys on KP and got their weapons card and used their rifle for training.
My goal, with my endless mods to my AR10, is to get it to shoot as nice as my M1A did.
Hoping that converting it to a piston driven, with a much lighter BCA, and buffer will help.
I should have sold the damn thing back in '08, and just bought another M1A.

Fired expert with the M14 in basic, 1966. Took the M16 to Vietnam. The M16 is a better rifle for a grunt humping all day plus he can carry more ammo cause it's lighter. The new civilian AR15s are super accurate as a rule. The M14 was an improved M1, 20 round box magazine. Could fire full auto but was uncontrollable.
I could defend the M14 a lot better before getting my hands on a Beretta BM59! As I recall, the M14's failure in combat was largely related to two things: failure of the ridiculous flash hider (usually bent and subsequent bullet strikes) and failure of the (unnecessary) bolt roller - but the rifle was also useless on full-auto.
Not to mention, the AR-10 was already available, and had it not been intentionally sandbagged in the trials likely would've been adopted as it was a superior choice.
The Italians, with a near-zero-dollar (Lira?) budget, converted the M1 Garand into a modern, select-fire, 7.62 NATO battle rifle that actually worked and was possibly more reliable than the parent Garand. The BM59 has the Garand's 'straight-line' stock, and an innovative 'tri-compensator' that performs remarkably well at both suppressing flash and controlling recoil; it isn't hard to do 'mag dumps' with a BM59 and full-load NATO ammunition!
