So San Antonio has an ordinance against locked blades from what I hear.

Has anyone encountered anything with this? I was thinking about carrying a Swiss or folder...but don't want to go to jail or get CHL revoked

SA has a law prohibiting the carry of lock blades UNDER 5 and 1/2 inches. State law makes all blades over 5 1/2 inches unlawful to carry.

    I see a loophole.
So if it's EXACTLY 5 and 1/2 inches and locks open its ok? lol... If I lived in SA I'd carry a small fixed blade.

There have been several times I've been passing through SA and realized I still had my pocket knife on me... Yikes! That law is pretty freak'n ridiculous if you ask me.

it would be awesome if more people were used to that. the more people used to it, the less alamr it will cause. that way more people would carry long guns.

Good reason to stay away from San A.

When I lived in Colorado Springs a few years back there was this 'eccentric' guy who carried a shotgun strapped across his back while he bicycled around town. Being civic-minded he even attended City Council meetings with it. Caused quite a stir, but was legal at that place at that time. Priceless.
I'm not anti-cop, but I have to say - if our servants in Law Enforcement can pack weapons all over the place, then good citizens should also have that right.

It's nothing to worry about, I've talked with several LEOs about it and all have said it only comes into play if you've been pulled for other reasons. For example, if you get caught stealing cars and happen to have a locking knife on you, then it's an extra charge. Otherwise, it's nothing to sweat; as everyone I know carries small locking knives.

As a matter of fact, I have to small locking knives on my keychain and forgot about them when we went to Six Flags yesterday. I had to take them out to our van, but the guy that courtesy-escorted me to the exit was SAPD and he said nothing about them...in fact, he was pretty friendly about the whole matter.

    But I agree, it's a ridiculous law...

    Cheers! M2
