I’m thinking about buying a 44 spec revolver.

It will probably be a Charter Arms.

    Gimme all ya got!

In my search I could swear GB had a GP100 in 44 spec as well.

I’m waiting for my appt at MDA and if it goes well I’ll head up to Tomball Pawn and check out their selection; if it goes bad I’ll go get one with a CC and see if I can get any credit lol!

    Gunz are icky.
    Wonderful caliber.
    Very versatile. Easy to reload.
Factory ammo not typically stocked by local shops. Expensive to buy.
    Factory bullet/load choices are limited.
Can run it in any .44mag gun.
But you know all that already.

I would advise you to stay the hell away from Charter Arms.
My experience with a recent purchase was terrible.
There are many other better choices out there.
    Ruger GP-100 does come in a .44Sp.
S&W M624 is the answer you seek.

I might know a guy who has a single action Uberti Bisley in 44Sp for sale.

    Thanks guys.

I’m looking for a carry piece in spec. I have a 629 PP.

I’ve seen an m624, wowsers, but I’m retired, and sick, and maybe short termed lol.

I saw the m624 on another forum and that’s what started all this.

    Time to see the doc!

One must think of style points as well.

I used to have a Ruger Vaquero in 44mag that was very unpleasant with magnums but very soft shooting with 44spl. I only shot Black Hills Cowboy Action loads so I don't know if they were loaded lighter than standard 44spl.

Cool round except for the price.

Charter Arms has been around awhile under three different owners with the first two being purchased out of BK. I had a 44 Bulldog from the first iteration in the '80s. It went bang all the time but I was diligent about knocking the pins back in after a range session. Second owner I have no experience with but pitiful reputation. I have a SS Bulldog from the latest and have had for about 3 years. So far about 250 rounds down the pipe.without a hitch or pins to pound back in. Felt recoil to me is about the same as a J-frame shooting 38 special. This one has a 2.5" barrel on it and I would likely go 3" were I to get another. It is not an EDC.

Cancer sux but can be beat.

As mentioned above. Charter quality has depended on who owned the company at the time your gun was manufactured. I actually have 3 Bulldogs, 1 a target model, and 2 3 inch models. Bought them all used, and bought them because the asking prices were too good to pass up. All have functioned fine, with no problems at all. I sell a fair number of Bulldog holsters for concealed/open carry, so a pretty good number of people carry them.

What is the model 624 (or model 24) frame size?

... Surely it is larger than a k-frame, right?

Because as others have mentioned, why not get a 44 mag?

I believe the model 69 is an L-frame 44 mag - more easily concealed carry than a model 29 anyway.

Then there's the model 96, as previously mentioned, which IIRC is 44spl and available as an AirLite scandium frame with titanium cylinder.

    I know a 29 is an N frame.

I just picked up(being shipped)a Highway Patrolman which is a 357 unfired and it has no turn ring. At least the pics don’t show one. It’s a pre lock and I was searching for that but in a 44.

I have a Spanish copy of a triple lock in 44 spcl and it shoots fantastic. The sights suck though.

I picked this one up during the Trump years, pre-covid. We were awash in affordable guns and ammo and I don't think these sold very well for Ruger. I bought this one on sale for less than $600, because I got tired of the emails and I was casting a lot of 44 bullets at the time.
