Wrong. The Alamo hadn't been a mission for years by the time of the battle. It wasn't called the Alamo until after it was used as a Mexican garrison by troops from a town named something Alamo something (I forget the name, but who cares about those losers?). It was still used by the military when the Texians booted the bastards out and took up residency.
