I'm expecting the day when tiny data chips will be put into babies that will stay in them for life. It will have an incredible amount of info on them and will be updated throughout their life. There will be readers every where and all your habits and movements will be monitored. All that will be needed to get all your personal info will be for you to walk within 20 feet of a reader (receiver). The readers will be placed everywhere, stores, subway stations, in all public transportation, and just about everywhere you go. We have the technology to do this now. All it will take is a government or president devious enough to convince the general public that this system will make them safer. It will start by "protecting" our children by being able to keep track of them and being able to locate them if abducted or lost. Initially, the system will be very handy for everyone, but it wont be long before the personal information system will start being abused. A lot of people will like the convenience of being able to walk into a store, pick up the items they want, and just walk out not having to go to a cashier. The readers at the doors will pick up all your information and the chips in the products will be picked up also. All you have to do is wait for the bill. Sounds handy doesn't it? Too bad the system can be used against us! Soon, more and more personal information will be transferred to the chip so any reader can know just about everything about you. Businesses will be able to create marketing better to attract you to buy their products. The danger lies in companies and a government that wants to control or keep track of you as an adult. A government that can know every where you go, everything that you do, everything that you buy, and just know everything about you, is no longer your government. They have just changed from being your government to your ruler. Freedom will be a thing of the past.
With the present changes in technology (some good and some seeming to be good) I see us slowly moving towards a system like I have described above. You see, I just don't have a lot of trust in our government's honesty with this country. There are just too many politicians in power that put their own gain ahead of the good of our country. I am not an anti-government activist, I would just like to stay free, and the less my government knows about me the better chance I have of keeping my present day freedom. The way I look at it, the strip on our drivers license is just another step in the direction of controlling the populace.

Sorry for the long response. I just sometimes anal-ize things too much!

this has been in the works for a long time.

the beta test is in use for pets, and probably a few other applications.

Figures. And I was just hoping that the chip scenario was just something I made up from my warped science fiction mind! I love new technology and gadgets that make life easier, but I really don't want to be constantly monitored by the government. I have nothing to hide, but I truly believe that some in our government would love to use that kind of technology to promote control over us "little people". (Pelosi comes to mind)

i have all kinds of shit to hide.

not for any particular reason, but because of a little thing called privacy.

as a matter of fact i am a fairly private person. i dont like people knowing what food i buy, what i porn i like, when my fav time of day to take a shit is, if you ask me what color my eyes are over the phone i am going to lie.

i have no reason for this, but in this age of social networks and video conferancing, skype google, facebook, twitter, myspace, janet napolitono (sp?) internet web feeds surveilance cameras on every street corner finger print scanners fro children to buy their mandatory school lunches, so when the grow up and are finger scanned fro everyhting else they dont quesiton it....

hell yes i am going to lie about every damn thing i can to people that dont know anybetter.

shit i use facebook myspace and all that shit simply as a disinformation tool to throw the bastards off.

am i trolling? am i serious? you never can tell with me on hardly any of my posts...

    this is all by design.

    :)
