Knowin' what you want to have done, and on what, would make it easier - some smiths specialize in some things more'n others.
I have a new Wilson Combat .300blk 14.7" upper with a pinned & welded flash hider that I need removed and replaced with a different flash hider.

My guy is Tip Burns - Canyon Sporting Arms on ths NS of Canyon Lake. Not the closest, bit he's the only one locally I'll let work on mine. No doubt there's others, but he'sy choice.

It is difficult to undo a weld.

Have yet to meet a gunsmith with that kind of skill.

If you find one, please let me know.

That must be some weld. I broke the weld on my neutered AK with a rotary tool. No more "Thread protector" for me!

Drill press? Drill out the pin and twist off the flash hider? I've never attempted this. Are you welding anothet on or getting a stamp? Well I guess if you already have a lower pin and welded flash hiders are silly
