buy a new truck for $50,000 and then spend about $4500 extra making it dependable?HP tuners, reprogram the whole computer to deactivate AFM; change camshaft to non-afm and put non-afm lifters you’re good to go
Gotta really want a Chevy I guess.

I would have taken all of my family vacations and made any trips I needed in the loaner ..just saying...
They kept me in brand new loaner pickups the whole time, so it wasn't an inconvenience.
Do a web search on Coyote 5.0 class action. Someone in the design team wasn’t paying attention to what GM went through in the ‘70s with the Vega. They took a proven engine and ruined it by using plasma lined cylinders instead of iron sleeves like on earlier iterations of the Coyote, which turned it into an oil burner. Class action starts with the 2018 modelsThey all have issues of some sort, event the Ford Coyote.
Had not heard of that. My neighbor has a 2019 with a lot of miles and no problems.Do a web search on Coyote 5.0 class action. I thought GM dropped their small Diesel? I"m driving a low-mileage Ford Econoline with a 6.0 PSD, I was planning on buying a fullsize GM passenger van with the 4-cylinder Diesel but they dropped everything but a gas V6 and a big V8 and I'm not sure either are decent engines.both dodge and ford have abandoned the small diesel in their half ton trucks. Only gm remains with a small diesel as an option.
GM is really putting out some good products aren't they?I’ve budgeted for a hardware delete on our two trucks.
I was taking to someone, he said his lifters are frozen in the extended position. Said he was waiting for parts so the dealer could fix it.
I tried to tell him to count his blessings, he didn’t want to hear it.
I’ve also got the 6L80 with garbage torque converters. Yay me
Yeah, I think GM still knows how to make a good V8. But like newer diesel, it’s the mandated emissions crap that’s the problem.GM is really putting out some good products aren't they?.4
My good friend owns a transmission shop. He showed me the cheap stamped steel converter out of my son's 2018 6 speed that trashed at 118kYeah, I think GM still knows how to make a good V8. But like newer diesel, it’s the mandated emissions crap that’s the problem.
As for the 6L80…it’s decent but the torque converter is junk. I’m putting a new one in the Suburban at the first service. It’s a GM reman (warranty replacement) but the warranty will be up soon, and it’s got the same garbage TC that failed place.
I figure budgeting to fix the known issues is still cheaper than replacing them with new…which will have the same/other issues.
Lol..and GM is doing it again
This is the 100k service on the 3.0 Baby Duramax

GM’s peak may have been about the mid 2000’s. For the rest of the industry, vehicles are more complex now, but they are significantly better than anything that was available then. More powerful, ride smoother, better features, etc.The automotive peak was about the mid 2000's.
