I wrote check number 13151 back in May as a niece's graduation gift. We write a few each year and this account is almost 40 years old. I recall using a book of checks and stamps about every 2 months back in the day.

Right? Bill paying used to be sit down with checkbook and stamps and start stuffing envelopes. Took a long time and I don't miss it, but still write a check every now and then.

We write a few each year and this account is almost 40 years old.

On one or two occasions in the last decade, after asking for assistance from a bank teller, I've felt the need to make an "I've been a customer for a while; you shouldn't mind helping me." point at the end of the interaction.

I'll offhandedly ask "Could you have a look and tell me when this account was opened?"

They glance at their screen and seem a little shocked when they answer me "Uhhh, 1953?"

But after that, they never seem to mind when I ask for a little extra help.
