We've upgraded as well; her ring and mine together cost about $100 back in the day. Even though we have better (fancier?) rings now, she still has the originals in her jewelry box. 47 and counting. The marriage, not us.Of course the wife's ring was upgraded around year 25 but my $199 semi-oval wedding ring from Service Merchandise has kept us going 38 years as of yesterday.
Reminds me of the old codger who stood next to me at the Craps table in Vegas. He rolled over an hour and never hit 7, I made $2,000 off his rolls and was very conservative. Chips everywhere on the table, security bringing out more chips. Once he finally rolled a 7, two drop dead gorgeous ladies wearing diamonds suddenly appeared and escorted him away. Prolly to his bed and applesauce as they cleaned him out of course.
Upgraded Mrs. Whistler's for 25th also, figured might as well commit at that point especially ugly as I've gotten. Must of have worked, she's still here. We've upgraded as well; her ring and mine together cost about $100 back in the day.
