To test the tubes from your tv to see which ones were bad. My dad kept a box of spares. This was before solid state transistor and tuners.

Remember the amps/receivers? 'Bout 70lbs? On a winter night the stereo would zap ya from 3 feet away with static...

Go to change the album? Arm on the turntable zap yinz! (we had carpet in the living room, forced air...static wuz a thang) Change the radio station? Whee! Think? When I wuz a lad? We had but AM Radio...KDKA had the ball games...WIXZ had the Rock Bands....Got FM about when I went to High School. WDVE had the ROCK...WAMO had the Soul... 107.9 wuz Country/Western...

Capacitor in back of the TV picture tube? Knock yinz senseless! Rabbit Ears....

That ship sailed by the time you were in 1st grade....

Think Olson's went under in the late 70's (Pittsburgh) .... I know when I was first married, we purchased a "solid state" TV...(long time ago...before you were hatched)

The Console TV, 25"...weighed about a metric tonne!
