My fav is the one I still have. Bought it in 92.

    Honda XR250L.

I could ride it to the MX track. Take off my mirrors and run their course. I had so much fun on that bike. And I ride it all over town.

Not the raw speed of the 2 strokes, but it had power. Of course I was much lighter back then.

Don't know how I missed this.

My first street bike was a Honda XL250.

    Then I got a Suzuki DR400.

It was going to be the base for a project to get to another one of these..

Hard tailing a shaft drive is not easy... especially for this model. Too much fabrication and time.

It goes to a buddy next week who is going to get it going with his son.

You did a little work to that 73 FX, Bobtail fender, forward controls, Bates seat with butt pad, apes, and 3.5 gallon tanks. I Like It!
Wide glide front end. Dual front brakes. Accel coil. Wiesco high compression pistons. Straight pipes. Andrews Cam. S&S Super E carb. Did everything I could think of short of boring and stroking. Man I have some memories of where I took that bike.

I started out with a 1966 Norton Commando with a Dunstall 100hp kit, a real handful. It had the featherbed frame and really held the road but the power was really tricky.

My favorite was a 1972 Honda Elsinore I rode in the Missouri Ozark trails then took it overseas to Saudi Arabia. Super dependable, always started on the 2nd pop. Then it was a Suzuki 250, a real POS.

Now all the sudden I'm reminded of the 3 mini bikes which started my obsession as a kid.
    Countless hours of fun.

First was a Sears tube frame.
Then a Honda mini trail 50.
Lastly the Yamaha mini enduro 60, first one with a clutch.

No mini bikes, but bought my kids a used 73 Honda Trail 50. My son and I tore it apart and redid it. Was the first of many projects like that.

He had a driveway gig fixing kids bikes and motorcycles. One of my prouder moments.

At some point bought a new 2010 Honda 70XR. Still have the 70, and my kids break it out and ride it now and then.

Allstate (Puch) mopeds and Whizzers and that dumb French front tire roller POS. Mustang was neat to go along with the Eagles. Her BIL rode a doodlebug around campus. Saw a modern version of the doodle bug in Branson, Ar several years ago, better (real) frame and more HP. Kid rode it on campus and to the river.
