Nope, the 1/2" was fine.
Idkwtf happened. I almost thought maybe you had a green tip or 2 in the magazine...lol. Then we decided to shoot it with the .270 again.... thats when we made the 3rd hole....lol

I can assure you the 3 holes were not drilled out....lol. The only thing i can think of is bad steel. I purchased the plates from ebay. I will send out an email to the seller & see what they say.

Speed kills! I’ve had guys dimple mine with penetrator stuff, but the only hole I ended up with was from a 22-250.

The one that got the hole wasn't AR500. It was like 30 years ago, and we just weren’t very smart.

Alot of rebar comes from china and it is softer and easier to bend and cut than the US made.

Same happened with my 1/4" AR500 & 44 mag. I've shot them with thousands of pistol rounds and multiple times 30-50yd with 5.56 & 7.62 and no holes, but 44 mag drilled perfect holes in both of my silhouettes.

Found this video on the Walmart Allen AR500 3/8" steel target.

If you skip to the 13 minute mark, he starts using .308, then .270, then 30-06.

No holes with those 3 calbers....hmmm.
Im pretty sure mine wasnt heat treated properly.

Id claim if it was mine... but the neighbor came down & was checking zero.
So my neighbor is to blame for the laser holes.

But my groups usually do look like that

Its not my rifle, its the neighbors.
The neighbor shot a doe with it... @ 30yards blew out her neck back in November. Ill see of i can get a pic.


I did shoot through 2 hogs with my 6.5 grendel with FMJs a few weeks back. Went through both hogs & a feeder leg...lol.

I kind of lean more towards Shoot Steel because their stuff is AR550. It's supposed to help reduce pitting. I just bought a 3/8" silhouette and a 1/2" 12" gong from them. I've been enjoying shooting those targets a lot.

You can't really trust the Ebay and Amazon stuff.

MOA Targets is supposed to also be good. The owner is active on one of the Discord servers I frequent.

Having seen the pictures, I can attest to the fact that the exit wound is the size of the stapler.
