I can finally change my electric plan but TXU and Reliant are 20 cents a kwh. I am looking at a couple of others - Green Mountain Energy Company and Summer Energy - because they offer deals for less than 15.5 cents a kwh. Any feedback on these or suggestions for other less expensive plans would be appreciated.

www.powertochoose. Put in your zip code and it will list all of the providers in your area along with the rates. We signed a 3 year contract with yep energy, and it was nowhere near 15 cents. I think somethink in the neighborhood of 10.5 cents.

Actually, that may not list all the providers, but it is a good start.

I just renewed my contract with Reliant last month and went with the Solar Payback plan. When I use power from the grid, they change me 15 cents kWh, and when I send excess generated from my solar system, they buy it from me for 10 cents kWh.

The contract that just ended was a non-solar contract that was 9.8 cents kWh.

I signed up with Real Simple Energy. It’s a six month contract and they shop they best provider at the time of signing. In my third month and I’ve shown a 300.00 savings. They take a $9.00 per month fee. Highly recommend

I hope my contact is at least another year.
I was really close to getting a meter set at the farm.
Now I'm much closer to alternative sources.

I'd rather pay up front, while I'm still making good money.

Full Retirement might not be as easy as it looked like.

That whole electric bill crap is smoke and mirrors. Per kilowatt hour charge… then the “delivery” charge. It’s a racket. Thankfully TX deregulated. Is the rest of the country deregulated? Can all states choose their providers?

I use Evergreen Power Solutions, similar deal.
And they only use fixed-rate pricing so no “gotchas” to look out for.

They recently moved me to this company that I’ve never heard of. But the power is cheap so I ain’t complaining.

I signed a fixed rate price as well. How much is the monthly service charge adder?

Wow, that’s $100 per month savings? My whole monthly bill isn‘t too much more than that. Are you living in a meat locker?

Hehehe- yeah- we like it chilly around here. Pool pump etc adds up too. From my experience during the Great Freeze - those three pumps chew a lot of juice. Ate up virtually all of my then generators capacity just to keep them running.

    Try Champion Energy.
Been using Champion for years also.
Currently have two accounts, three in the past, never had a reason to change.

One of my criteria is a well designed, user friendly, bill paying website.

When they messed with their GUI last year, they actually responded to my "don't fix it if it ain't broke" complaint that when paying more than one account, the physical address was also necessary, not just an account number.

    Fixed in short order.
