It's been several hours (and a lot of work) since I watched the Goss video but I don't think he was suggesting a flush after a compressor failure.
There's no other reason to flush the system, really.

Because sitting on top of 20gal of gasoline and pumping it at high pressure to one end and back again is safe, right?**** no. Get a hole in your system and you run the risk of barbecuing yourself.

I'm not sure about freeze 12, but most of those r12a and r22a replacements are blends of propane and isobutane and other stuff.There is always freeze 12...
