Aggh! I've been watching old westerns (Gunsmoke, etc) & I'm getting a serious twitch to get a 1873 revolver. Most likely a .22LR version (Heritage Rough Rider): $126 +$13frt +$10ffl =$149 with WMR cylinder.
Has anybody else succombed to this sort of thing? Regrets?

I remember somebody on here getting one on sale at Academy right before Christmas a year or two ago - it had no rifling in the barrel.

"Has anybody else succumbed to this sort of thing?" Of course.

    "Regrets?" Nope.

Be sure to check out the Ruger Bearcat.

I have 2 Rough Riders, 4 3/4 and 6 inch. No regerts. They shoot great. The six shoots better with the magnum cylinder.
Also have a Ruger Single Six in .22 magnum and getting another. They all shoot great.
But be warned, once you get one though, you will want bigger calibers as well. They are fun and addicting.

Funny, that's what drove me to get a Henry Frontier lever action .22LR rifle! Since then, I too have been itching to find a nice .22LR revolver to marry up with it. The Heritage Rough Rider appears to be the best entry-level pistol in that category, but as mentioned there tends to be better deals around Black Friday or just before Christmas. I am holding off to see if Academy is going to offer up any this year...

    Cheers! M2

    Ruger Single Six or Bearcat.

I really like the Shopkeeper, but the premium it brings at gun shows is just a bit much for me.

Here's my cowboy rig. These are black powder, tho. No regrets. Watch out for that rabbit hole.

Resist any urge to buy any older western revolver in 22LR that has FIE stamped on it.....no matter how cheap it is.....

Plinkerton is a nice pistol as are the Ruger Single Six.....for western style revolvers..
