At the DoD recreation facility on Canyon Lake today.

That’s just one one several beaches, all DoD members or retirees; no masks, no significant social distancing, just people being normal.

Most of these people are subject to non-judicial punishment for not following one of several military orders. The beauty of big boy theory at work: no Karen’s.

Regarding herd immunity, I’m reading that having some antibodies does not equal immunity. Idk. Too many factors to consider, sigh. I’m trying not to overdo the analysis and trying to stay chill, am going out...but even when I’m away from the news and thinking on my own, it’s wearing on me. I’m just worried about what we’ve done so far to destroy the economy AND worried about not wanting to get sick too.

While that could be part of it, these units are going to fly for training anyway. It doesn't take much more effort to fly over a hospital or whatever else.

DoD was supposed to move away from the "use it or lose it" mentality and to some extent it has. But...it still pops up way too often...

It's not just the money - if those pilots don't fly, they lose their flight status and have to be re-trained. Since they're gonna fly (especially the demo teams) they might as well fly where the public can see rather than out over the desert.

Now, if you are fully against burning tax money for air shows in the first place then I doubt any of that matters. And I can’t really give a good reason why you’d be wrong.
