    So.....if I point it up i will just fall?A horizontal barrel, no. But if the barrel is tilted up past horizontal for distance, it will rise above the line of sight.

    The statement he was answering was:

    Bullet rises somewhat when it leaves the barrel, then gravity takes over and it starts to fall.

    And this is incorrect. The bullet does not rise "somewhat" after leaving barrel and then gravity takes affect. Gravity takes affect instantly.

    The only way a bullet rises is if there is a Bernoulli effect or the spin creates lift like a wing. Neither have ever been observed for ordinary bullets.

    Same is true for the mythical rising fastball....
