Doesn't matter, the Mexicans are taking over anyway and will turn this state blue in short period of time.
Sad but true. Californian's moving here and continuing growing hispanic population is making Texas into a new California. I give it another 20 years before the democrats take over and start replicating the California disaster here.

There is a little not bad / almost good news in the Cali shift: most, but not all but most of those moving out are not the uber left wing zealots Newsom nuisances that make the daily news. Those I’ve met are more Texas-value-centric than what they left.
Not suggesting more move here but most that have moved here are more likely Trumpers than not.

Rejoice types of people move to Texas from Commiefornia. Refugees, who are looking to escape liberalism and welcome the lifestyle in the Lone Star State (this includes me). Then it the folks following their job. They like it in Commiefornia and are only moving to Texas as their employer did. These are the problem as they still see liberalism and progressive policies as the way to go.

I see this more from people coming from States like Illinois or Colorado than Californians. I am pretty sure there are those who still think like that but pretty much most of the ones I know as I work in a diverse industry both paid and volunteer do not share the beliefs of a system they left.

After several 10s of millions of illegals from Central and South America entering the US, I propose in the name of Diversity and Inclusion, that we open the borders to anyone from a former Soviet republic like Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Romania. For one, a background check at the border is likely to be effective since those countries actually have a criminal record system to review. Second, they remember the feel of the Soviet boot on their neck, and the daily misery of living under Socialism. They will make good conservative voters.

Texas was a blue state 35 years ago. I do not agree with everything in the article but mostly accurate.

People forget that at one time there was a conservative Democrat wing. Texas was always conservative as was much of the South. When the Dem party started going liberal, conservative Dems gradually switched over the Republican party.

These people will not be moving to Texas because they are conservative and are fleeing Cali. They will be coming to keep their jobs.

It is true. I am an ex Cali and now my loyalties are to Texas.

Yep. And we can't lump all Californians into a "Royal Blue" category anymore than we can say all Texans are "Deep Red." There are and have always been areas in California that are primarily conservative but, like Texas, that usually ain't the big metropolitan areas.

But even some of the more populated areas in California have been indoctrinated blue where they didn't used to be. I spent a decade in Orange County back in the '80s and Orange County was predominantly Reagan country then.

Too, the character and culture of a corporation generally trickles down from the top, especially if the CEO/Chairman has a strong and opinionated personality. Elon Musk ain't short on opinions and letting people know what they are. My prediction is that, if he really does move X (Twitter) to Austin, a significant percentage of the employees will opt not to come with it. And these will be the ones who think that in Texas everyone rides a horse, chews tobacco, and and never gets the cow shit completely off their boots. The Twitter workers who are pissed-off that they haven't been able to continue working 100% from home after COVID, don't get 2-hour lunches for Himalayan Temple Bell meditation time, don't get 10 weeks of vacation, and don't get paid maternity leave when partners John and Dave adopt a baby.

They'll stay in Silicon Valley. Thank God.

But California lost almost a half-million people between 2022 and 2024, the most of any state, because they got good and fed up with the oppressive state and local government, the insane cost of housing, the highest state income tax in the country, the uncontrolled homelessness, and the rampant crime exacerbated by Soros-backed DAs and personal recognizance bail releases of repeat offenders. So a fair number of those X and SpaceX workers in California have probably been wanting to come to Texas anyway.

And just like we welcome all legal immigrants, we can welcome new Texans from California. Introduce them to real barbecue, to no state income tax, to a state that has 64% more space than California, and to Texas gun culture. Because at the end of the day, a booming Texas economy is good for all of us. And the 2020 census results gave Texas two new congressional districts while California lost one. A growing population ain't all bad, either. This former independent republic starts to make the coastal elites nervous the wealthier and more populous we get.
