Having been the owner of probably well over 100 various Model 700's over the years, and I think about nine of them currently, I have never seen one that exhibited that trait with the safety. Odd. Even several times, when that has popped up on various gun forums over the years, it usually gets debunked rather quickly. Hmmm......

Two failures? How is that possible? Were they on the same rifle?

I'm in camp that the best are non mass production actions although there are a few factory ones that are solid with some tweaks.

I guess that's fine as long as you have deep pockets and a gold card. But most average people don't, so they buy mass produced.

That's why a lot of people piece together builds slowly.

You know that I don't have deep pockets. I just decided long ago to never get married or have kid's,so I can easily save my money for the things that I want.

Yes,I have some nice custom gun's,but I worked hard and saved money to buy or build everyone of them. When you don't stay neck deep in debt, you can have a few nice toy's.

This! When I wanted more & nicer shit I worked a second job. Neither of us wanted to deal with having kids as messed up as we were!

My German K98 is probably my all time favorite bolt action. The 1917 enfield is another great one.

As far as modern goes, Savage, Old Remington and Browning

The T/C Compass is also a surprisingly nice gun. The stock is cheap and a little too flexible as many plastic stocks are on budget rifles and the gun itself isn't much to look at either, but damned if it doesn't shoot nice. With factory ammo, I was getting sub MOA groups. Not bad for $300.

The most accurate gun I had was a 308 made from an arisaka action. They are good actions. Find one cheap enough just for the action.
