That's why I keep electronic ear muffs by the bed.
A person could always take an old Remington Wingmaster 1100 and cut the barrel back to 18 inches, add magazine tube extension, a side-saddle and call it a day.
(Sarcasm!)
I bought a Mossberg 940 JM Pro that holds 9 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells. The 24 inch barrel is a little long but it is no more difficult to handle in the house then my 870 Tactical that only holds 7 rounds and has an 18 inch barrel that I have to pump the shells. I love the 940.I'm looking for an autoloader shotgun for home defense. I have a mossberg 500 defender with a light, ammo saddle and magpul furniture already. I'm mainly looking at these 3 shotguns

Mossberg 930 defender
Beretta 1301
I'm open to other suggestions . Anyone have thoughts or have owned these?

This is my second choice. First is an AA-12.Saiga-12 with an MD-20 drum.
Having experienced multiple issues with my Mossberg 930, I sold it for a Beretta 1301 and haven’t looked back. Many of the 930 shortcomings are well-documented; like sticking shell catch, won’t cycling when damp, frequent cleaning, jamming when bolt/shell release button is pressed while lifter is down, etc. Some of these can be fixed while the shell-release problem is inherent to the design. I’m not sure if the 940 has addressed any of these issues.
Beretta 1301 has been a media darling for the past couple years and rightly so. As long as you stick to the Gen 2 version. The tactical comes with a 12” LOP stock although I’d recommend adding the Beretta .5” recoil reducing pad.
do those drums squish the shells like the box mags do? i have had trouble keeping a loaded mag as the hulls deform over time get squished into an oblong shape and will not reliably feed, which rules out the weapon from HD use as i cant keep the mags loaded.Saiga-12 with an MD-20 drum.
I've not had an issue with squished shells in my MD-20. I haven't noticed the box mags causing the shells to deform though. I'll keep an eye out.do those drums squish the shells like the box mags do? i have had trouble keeping a loaded mag as the hulls deform over time get squished into an oblong shape and will not reliably feed, which rules out the weapon from HD use as i cant keep the mags loaded.
My bride is quiet as a church mouse when she sleeps. Just ask her….Your wife snores too, doesn't she? Mine does.
