Why is this still up. The church security member made it up and you fell for it.
Check your sources. Sheesh. Come on Texas Gun Talk.

Burnet County Sheriff Calvin Boyd confirmed that there were no hostile actions directed at the church or the safety team member, and no weapons were brandished towards the church. The safety of the church was never in jeopardy.

Sheriff Boyd expressed frustration over the fabricated incident, stating that it wasted valuable resources and drew significant attention from state and federal authorities.
Thank you for your concern and comments,

I don't know. I never saw it. I saw my cousin's comments and a shared post from the pastor in Burnet about the situation. So either he was spinning a tale out of whole cloth or the Feebs stepped in and changed the story.

Don’t know, but it seems the locals are calling BS on the claims and not the Feebs. Possible the feebs are intervening, but Occam’s razor seems to apply here. The dude seemingly has a history of fake police reports, so …

If the church has video then they should release it, especially since their member is about to get fried for multiple felonies.

Yeah, the pastor is backtracking now. Seems that he trusted what the dude told him instead of having witnessed things with his own eyes.

Geez, what a disappointment. I was hoping for another pistol recommendation. Back in 2019 after Jack White offed a church perp in the West Freeway Church of Christ with a 30' headshot I went out and bought a Sig 229 in 9mm. Granted, I don't practice enough to shoot as well as Mr. White, but having a proven iconic pistol can't hurt, now can it?

Interesting, but would that not show up in a background check? One would assume a church setting up a security apparatus would run BGC on the folks applying.

The guy is a retarded deuche nozzle. Hopefully they follow through with the felony charges and make no plea offers. This guy is too stupid to be near guns.

That would be a Class C misdemeanor, I believe. He would still be able to get a LTC. LTC's are pretty much like showing you are a card carrying good guy. You need a Class B or A to not get a LTC. So if he had an LTC, then the church may have bypassed the background check because the state already said they trusted him to carry a gun.

Filing a false report is currently a class B misdemeanor. Filing a false report to induce an emergency response is an A misdemeanor BUT can be elevated to a state jail felony if its shown he's got 2 prior convictions for making false reports under the same statute. No doubt the DA and police will be digging everything they can on him to ensure conviction and obtain maximum possible punishment - he'll probably cut a plea deal to avoid the felonies which SHOULD include him giving up his ability to ever again get a security commission card, ever working in law enforcement (oy veh, can you imagine that one?) and he'll likely have a condition to not possess weapons during any probation / parole.

Also keep in mind that if his original conviction was in the 1990's - that's almost 30 years ago and those convictions would not count against him in obtaining a security license since it was over 5 years old. Not sure what level of crime a false report would've been considered in 96, but its likely it was still a B or C misdemeanor, and a C misdemeanor is akin to a traffic ticket which wouldn't really count against him at all in either scenario.

Only felonies and domestic violence would prohibit someone from owning a firearm once one's sentence is over, and you can obtain an LTC after 5 years of being convicted of even an A misdemeanor. The same 5 year window applies for obtaining a security commission, though there are certain crimes that even in misdemeanor form will exclude you from that for life, but IIRC making a false report is not one.

A background check could better serve as a guide on "should we hire this guy" but not everyone that should background (morally, not talking legally) does them. If the church isn't flush with cash, they might forego them for a "respected" member of the flock.

I hope this turd gets the book thrown at him, then they beat him with it like he's on NYPD Blue. Really does a dis-service to security people who try to actually do their job and not be Martians and Walter Mitty types.
