Their conventional weapons turned out to be underwhelming due to stuff like poor maintenance, outdated designs, etc., so they resorted to WWII tactics like mass dumping of artillery fire.

Reading lately that nukes require a lot of maintenance in order to actually work when they need them. Never mind the delivery systems. Have they been properly kept up or did Pootin's cronies & the generals rip off the maintenance funds for those too? Mansions, hookers and blow don't come cheap.

China for sure would not be happy. The worldwide panic set off by Pootin using even one tactical nuke would bring economies to a halt, make the shutdown for the WuFlu look tame in comparison. Bad for business and China can't afford to have everyone stop buying their stuff and crash their economy.

But as nutty as the wannabe Peter the Great II is, who the hell knows what he will actually do.

Being a former USAF Nuclear Weapons Specialist I can say that nukes do need regular maintenance and special work done to them periodically. With how poor Russia handles their conventional weapons I would imagine that their nuclear stockpile is poorly maintained at best. It would not surprise me if a significant portion of their nukes would malfunction when used but with so many they have in their inventory, they have enough to pose a serious threat.

    Agree.
Any chances that if the nutjob tries to launch a nuke and it goes kaboom at home, he'll blame it on the "west" and start a global war?
We thought WE had a demented traitor dictator for a leader. How do you think Russians feel right about now?

Yep. They're doubling down on their WW2 tactic of just throwing bodies at the battle. They've called up 300K more troops which will have interesting effects on them long-term.

What are they going to arm those 300k troops with? I've read that they've already been issuing Mosins and WW2 era metal helments to conscripts. That'll make ya feel warm & fuzzy going up against Ukranians armed with AK's, AR's / M16s M4's and whatever other modern(ish) weapons they're going up against.
