I'm in the market for a new truck.

I've been shopping a bit and am kind of taking a shine to a 1500 RAM or F150. I wish the 6.0 was offered in a GMC ...

    I'm not brand loyal ...

Yes, as far as I know, they plan to release the (L86) 6.2 in the 1500 as an option for a '14 Sierra 1500, but it will require the SLT. Still, it's cheaper than a Denali. And for once, they're putting the hot motor in the Silverado as well.

Yep. GMC/Chevy have a redesign for the '14 year, as well as introducing a new 6.2 (L86 compared to the L92 in the current Denali/Escalade) and discontinuing the 6.0. They're late to the party, but better late than never. Dodge has been running away with the "performance" demographic with their cheap and affordable and economical Hemi option. The new Ram 1500s are pretty dang nice on the inside, especially with the leather interior (dash gets wrapped in leather also), but so are the F150s. The back seat is HUGE on the F150 4dr, and keep in mind that the Dodge 4dr has two models - the QuadCab (small and cramped, but still a true 4dr) and the CrewCab (huge back seat). Hopefully GM has addressed this issue with the new trucks.

Lol, I have the EcoBoost in my F150 and I wouldn't say it's backwards. It's decently quick, but gets no better fuel economy than my buddy's F150 with the new 5.0 V8.

My combined mpg is 16-17, but I have gotten 21 on pure highway at 65-70mph (read: not often). I've never gotten the claimed 22mpg highway. Mine is an FX4 with the Tow Package (3.73 gears).

My buddy just got a '13 with the 5.0 and gets just about the same mpg as me... and doesn't have to deal with turbo lag. :(

Got a chevy truck and two Ford f150's.

The Ford trucks are much better made than the chevy, by a ton!

I disagree. For the longest time, I've been buying Fords for 3/4- and 1-ton trucks, and GMC for my 1/2-tons. My '05 F250, '08 F350, and '08 F550 were all plagued by problems. Hell, my F350 was on its 3rd engine by the time I got rid of it. After the F550 I went back to Duramax with my '11 GMC 2500HD, and the only problems I've had was a shorted lifter pump because my Banks intake box rubbed through the wiring insulation; just last week at 60kmi the transmission would not come out of 2nd gear; the TCM was replaced under warranty.

Meanwhile, I had a '07 GMC 5.3 and a '08 Chevy 8.1 (2500HD) and not a single major issue. When the EcoBoost finally came out I was keen to try it, and it was the ONLY reason I switched from GM to Ford. My F150 is a '12 and I've had it for just over a year. It's been in the dealer 4 times for repairs: parking brake wouldn't fully disengage (2 visits in the first week of ownership), brake controller not working, and just recently the throttle body had to be replaced because it sent the truck into limp mode.

I wholeheartedly disagree that Fords are the better made trucks.

So how is that going backwards? You've got a 365hp sled that gets 18mpg and doesn't require premium gas.

Hahaha, I don't think any SUV under $100k can even come close to a GC SRT8!

Nobody believes me but i bought in in Oct07 put 141246 miles on the engine and the only issue i had w/ it was 3 T-Stats and a battery replacement. I did change these items cause i wanted too not cause i had too, Rotors/Exhaust and CAI Intake....when i took it to the dealer for trade they did not believe me that it had that many miles on it. and it wasn't even kept in the garage...that jeep got respect, not even one door ding....it was crazy lucky ride.

shaky cam from the step kids but you get the point.

Hmmm....I average 16(rare), 17 (mostly) - 18 mpg combined, and am known to run 75-85 mph routinely. Best I've seen was 21, but running at 65 mph was boring as hell....<G>
