So it can be a lot of work to make an ar chambered in 7.62x39 to work 100 percent. Gas port size, one feed ramp on the barrel extension, firing pin fillet needs to go bye bye, and then the mags are ass anyway.

I say buy a quality ak. Get an Arsenal. Not like my user name makes me biased.

Any Sam7 will shoot fine cold bore.

But I also have a cmmg mutant that groups well.

I bought and really like my PSA KS-47

Great gun. Here are my 50 yard groups shot last Friday in the rain at Cedar Ridge Range with shit steel ammo:

Totally agree with Sam here. Just the amount of material taken from the bolt face to accommodate the larger rim is enough to guarantee failure in an AR platform but I have one as strictly a toy. All mags suck for them. Also had to get an extended firing pin to set off steel reliably. It's acceptably accurate but no better than equal to an SKS or Vepr. My first choice in x39 is the VZ 58 but I do own AKs as well, sold off my SKS many years ago.

My first pick would be a gen 1 galil ace, followed by various standard AK's.

I don't like 7.62x39 AR's. If they use standard AR lowers they use crappy magazines. If they use AK mags then you loose the LSHO capability. There's also the various other problems, the firing pin, bolt, etc.

Feed ramp mods are easy-peasy for an AR.

My groups at 100 yds are better than above shown 50 yd group.

Have had zero problems with C-mags.
    I have a quality 18" barrel that is thermo-fit.
    I run a mid-length piston action.
And LMT makes a bullet proof bolt, that the base of the lugs are thicker than a modified AR bolt.

If you want to just throw a bunch of cheap parts together, expect issues.

Lmt has been giving the cold shoulder to the civilian market for a few years now, you aren't going to find *anything* from them. Much less a 7.62x39 bolt.

Very nice groups. Few AR’s can match that. I agree yours best mine.

My groups were shot on a rainy day using 15+ year old Tula ammo by a shaky 60 year old guy…I’m happy with the performance for a stock 7.62*39 PSA rifle.

    Helotes!
I considered an AR in 7.62x39 as I have a fair amount of ammo being an AK guy for most of my life.

However, when it came down to it, I heard too many horror stories about ARs in that caliber, so I ended up getting two in 5.56.

Sure, I don't have nearly the amount of ammo for them as I do my AKs; but I'm working on that!

That bolt is the same one for 6.5 Grendel - never heard of those guaranteeing a failure.

I have an 7.62x39 AR and I freaking love it. I find it to be surprisingly accurate. Maybe I got the purple unicorn, but it runs great. The only issue I've had was one broken firing pin.

Ain’t nothing wrong with a 10 round box mag or if you have an all original Chinese with the 20 round box mag I’ll trade you for something lol.

A 'just one' in 7.62X39? I'd build a Galil in 7.62X39 and blow everybody's mind, or just get an ACE in whatever caliber.

    Eli
There's you with the Jewish stuff again!

Seriously, I had a friend that had Galils in both 5.56 and 7.62x51.... those were some of the best made, smoothest battle rifles I've ever held/shot. Oh, and the most expensive....
