If you are stuck buying off the shelf ammo , what barrel length? My 700 is a 20", but I'd like to get the most from a basic 6.5. 24 - 26"?
Most 6.5 creedmoor velocities are quoted off 24" barrels I believe. The lrp is 26" and runs the factory hornady ammo rated at 2710 really well. The big allure of the 6.5 creedmoor is the cheap, and very accurate hornady factory ammo. At 20 bucks a box its pretty hard to beat. When I buy my creedmoor Im going to buy a 1000 rounds of it since its cheap, shoots great and will give me plenty of brass to reload.
Not to mention when you do start reloading Hornady gives you the exact recipe for there loads.
Pretty sure the 30 cal only comes in 165 and 180.
Pretty sure your wrong. I shoot SMK 168s and 175s. And there's a million others.

My 700 SPS AAC generally shoots 168 BTHP within 1" at 100 yards without issue. If it's in a rest, the group is about 3/4" without issue. 6 to 8" steel at 250 yards is a joke.
However, it has some "off days." If I clean it extremely well (or there's a big temp change) the groups open up a bit. It enjoys being just a bit dirty. The last time I had it out, at 100 yards the first four rounds were in about a 2.5" group. The next four were easily inside an inch.
Edit to add- breakingcontact - you're welcome to run my 700 any time you want.
Interesting, I've had great luck with hornady brass in my 308. Plenty of other people having good luck with it as well in 6.5.Most of us that shoot the 6.5 Creedmoor use a 26" barrel
Don't waste your time buying Hornady factory ammo and plan on using the brass for reloading. Most of the primer pockets will be too large for new primers. I only handload for mine, and the once fired factory brass don't cut it!
I either buy virgin brass,or make it from 22-250 brass. Nosler is making brass now,but I haven't tried any.
H4350 is a good powder, but I also use Hybrid 100V,H414,Reloader 15/17/and 19 on mine. They all work great with the Creedmoor.
125 as well.Pretty sure he was referring to the SST line specifically. Comes in 150, 165, and 180 for .30 cal.
Simple miscommunication I'm sure.
Good luck finding em. I love them for my 300blk but havent been able to get any in a while. My backorders havent been filled from 3 months ago.Haven't seen the 125 SSTs. Been using Nosler Ballistic tips in 125g.
Think I will try to find those. Thanks for the heads up.
Nothing really. There are some differences but none really come into play unless you plan to mod it or swap calibers in house. So what do Savage and Remington offer differently from one another?
