GI means just blued? What brand pistol and how well is it blued? What kind of grips?
Grease might work. Extra bluing might work. If you're using aluminum grips, changing grips might work.
I appreciate your help. I am fond of 1911s as I carried one in combat and carried it for quite a few years. You can ridicule the 1911 if you wish as I am pretty sure I know how our were GIVEN the right to free speech.
Just wipe it down with some Breakfree CLP periodically. That stuff is very rust preventative. Several years ago on another forum, someone did a test with all the various lubes on metal, and left it outside and in the rain for a long time to see what would happen.
That's ok. We all know that glock owners have no taste.Sorry I couldn’t resist. I didn’t mean to upset you.

Not upset, just don't feel I need the "pussy" thing used when I post a legit question. Thanks for getting back, there is no problem.

Other than Amazon, where is this product sold? I live in the boonies and closest store that might sell the stuff is a True Value.
While I agree on cleaning, there could be more going on there on the slide than just corrosion.Timely thread..........
This is a Kimber I am cleaning for a customer.......pretty Kimber until you take it apart. It has never been cleaned properly and is a mess inside......he kept the outside wiped down, but that is it........in the second photo, click on it to expand it , you can see corrosion on the top of the rail (red circle)........
Clean them folks....not just wipe them down.........
