If you shoot a guy running away, regardless of any prior circumstances, and you are not a cop, you go to jail. We know that. Now cops too.
I was taught differently in my LTC class, in Texas. Was told that if a criminal is threatening or using deadly force, such as in my home, and runs away, I can shoot him running. Example given was say a perp breaks in and beats my wife unconscious. He runs, gun in hand, and is climbing over my fence to the neighbor's house. I can drop him. I realize this is different from the cop shooting but you did say regardless of circumstances.

So I'm curious about laws for LE around use of a tazer. Several here are referring to it as a deadly weapon, I hadn't considered that.

So are LE officers trained that if your taser is taken and used against you, you can use deadly force? Now that I think about it, it makes sense, because any nut job that's willing to go that far will likely not hesitate to take your gun and end your day real fast.

If that's the case, it was a justified shooting. Wonder why the cop has so many charges against him?

    ...
I heard today that OSU coach Mike Gundy had to make a formal apology for wearing an OANN tv network shirt while fishing with his kids. Apparantly he was photographed, and OANN has made negative statements about BLM. Protests came from players! This is WAY out of hand.

The DA claimed Rolfe kicked Brooks.
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/r...ficer-garrett-rolfe/ar-BB15D7iN?ocid=msedgntp

I did not see any video showing it.

And this is the problem with letting politics rule the day. Shots gotten so out of hand that claims like this need to be questioned.

Yeah, we should always question things. But it’s gone from “I’ll go ahead and verify that” to “Yeah, maybe he did it. Or maybe it’s just a way to throw more fuel on the fire”.

Even if he didn’t it won’t matter since the claim of a kick will be spread far and wide while retractions and corrections happen in darkness, unless they happen to support a certain agenda in which case they are blasted out on every network to make sure every knows (insert name) is a liar.

Tucker Carlson is getting labeled “fake news” for reporting that Ft Worth PD releases rioters and dropped their charges. NPR and several other outlets reported the same. FWPR later clarified in a tweet that they only dropped “charges for rioting” but not charges for assault, vandalism, etc. Now FWPD and other mainstream outlets are attacking Tucker while ignoring the many other stories from left wing outlets reporting the same. Why? Because Tucker reported it as a bad thing.

Sorry to get sidetracked. Just annoying that we can’t even know for sure if this cop is really a piece of shit or not because we can’t trust anyone.

Mainly quoting to talk smack based on the wife example.

I would hope I would be justified in that scenario but Idc plead me crazy. (Hypothetically of course) If some dude beats my wife, they'll be lucky if they get shot...what crime against humanity, I no longer recognize them as a human.

Not that I wanna be hit with a taser but a taser against me is the non-lethal choice to using a gun, a taser against a cop is potentially stealing their gun and killing them or others. I've been holding some pliers and touched an electric fence, felt like my heart would explode, so I don't like the idea of tasers but shot with a gun still worse.

Hard to say poor OSU coach but dam, guy can't even pick out his own clothes without it being a political statement he has to apologize for or probably loose his job.

Sorry ish, the wife watching the Late show has got me fired up...

ETA: oops hit the post button too soon. She ain't even watchin the dam tv...liquor might be talkin a little too, ha

Personally, and I'm not going to mince words, but IMO, that instructor is full of shit.

Once a person is encountered within the home, and they are deemed a threat, they are fair game as to, using up to deadly force in defense of yourself, or your loved ones. They are considered a threat. IF you shoot at them, and either miss, or they are simply wounded, and they exit the residence and are fleeing the scene, under the law, they are no longer considered a threat. UNLESS, there are extenuating circumstances for shooting a fleeing perpetrator that just broke into your home, and assaulted your wife, YOU just went from the defender, to the aggressor in that situation.

If you are taking that advice to heart from that instructor, I sure hope you have a really good defense attorney on speed dial.

What if the officer had been hit by the taser a rendered incapacitated? His service weapon could have been taken from him and used against him or some other innocent citizen. There's no doubt from the video the perpetrator discharged the taser in the general vicinity of the officer.
The attorney for a former Atlanta police officer facing a charge of felony murder in the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks last week told "The Ingraham Angle" in an exclusive interview Wednesday that several claims made by the district attorney when he announced the charges were "not true."

Lance LoRusso also told host Laura Ingraham that he was "kind of getting tired of people saying that Mr. Brooks was running away.

"Mr. Brooks was not running away," he said. "Mr. Brooks turned and offered extreme violence toward a uniformed law enforcement officer. If he was able to deploy the Taser, it would incapacitate Officer [Garrett] Rolfe through his body armor, and at that point, if he decided to disarm another officer, he would be in possession of a firearm."

    Through his body armor?
Even a light jacket can render tasers useless.

I don’t know much about those little probes or the body armor they were wearing.

I do know Kevlar works pretty good for bullets, but is crap against a sharp knife or anything shaped like a needle.

I doubt the little probes have enough “oomph” (scientific term) to get through.

Not to get off subject but Gundy apparently has some past accusations that are coming back to life of his use of slurs while playing. I expect his turmoil is far from over. There’s blood in the water and they are circling for the take down. His 15 yrs as head coach of OSU had been mediocre at best. When all the chips fall it will boil down to firing the coach and try to salvage their football revenue stream or keep him and accept that having a “just ok” football team is good with the university & fan base. His time is limited.

10-4......The officers attorney needs to rethink his wording for sure. Maybe along the lines of the cop being hit in the neck, face or arm with the taser.

Heh. You think attorneys tell the truth. That’s rich. Trial attorneys tell a story to the jury. What the jury decides may or may not be driven by the stories told to them.

The mayor was out to crucify him. It looks like a good shoot to me. He had a weapon, was a fleeing felon, and assaulted the cops. Hell he got the best of two of them himself. Do people really think he would not have shot the cop if he got ahold of a gun. this is a lynching of police officers. When thugs fear the police we have law and order, but when the police fear thugs and liberal politicians we have chaos.

Sorry Phoenix, criminals and thugs don't fear the police.
