Your letter has a mistake. Texas allows several forms of open carry.

If we are going to argue for open carry we need to have our facts straight, or present them correctly.

I am sorry, Texas does allow a restrictive form of OC...but we must admit that it is nothing close to the states that allow open carry with out going hunting, in your place of business or home....

Most politicians do not know the difference.

My letter was to inform the un-informed on the "idea" of OC....I really didn't want to get into specifics. If I would have, the letter would been too long and they would not have read it. K.I.S.S.

Just a FYI...I recently moved from MO back to my home state...I fought for OC...had Statues changed and will continue to fight here. I realize that this is a different fight, I will have to see what works for all of us, so I am serious when I say that I appreciate your input!!!

I agree with you, but accuracy and honesty are important.

Here you go. You can click on whoever you want to write and send them an email.

Texas House of Representatives : House Members

I will make one other comment from the Reagan dinner the other night. Speaker Strauss was not very available to talk too, but the Chairman of the Wilco Repub party (a good friend of mine) got a jab in for us. After the speaker got done speaking he was presented with a window sticker as a thanks. The speaker didn't seem impressed but a bunch of us in the crowd got a kick out of the look on his face.

That's not an email, that's just a web form.

As a frequent visitor to the great State of Texas, I am wondering what the chance of passing open carry is for this year.

I have a permit from Louisiana, am also an officer of the court and a commissioned officer in Louisiana. There are times when I am working a case out of TX that open carry works best for me but some people in TX gets nervous when they see a sidearm. I would give serious consideration to relocating to TX after my upcoming retirement if they pass OC.

Ruger has put together a notification system that will send an email message to all your elected reps (whether you voted for them or not!). You just put in your name, address, etc., and you get a list of everyone--pres, vp, senators, congressman, governor, Lt. Gov, state senator and rep, and state atty general. You can use their form letter, edit theirs, or write your own. It goes to them all.

    Once a week maybe? Here's a link.

I don't think our National reps need to hear about the Texas laws like this one though.

I just received and email from Rep. Lavender......I asked him about when the hearing on this bill is scheduled....

"We are looking at some time in the next few weeks. I am in the process of asking for a hearing but want to make sure everything is in order before I do.

    Best regards,"

    Keep up the presure!!!

Got this from Mr Lavender last night:
George Lavender for State Representative wrote: "The holster provision has been eliminated. We never found a definition that people could understand and agree on. You still need a holster, but nothing specific."
