Hi all. Went to the brand spanking new facility (indoor) in Lewsiville today, the Eagle Gun Range at 491 Valley Ridge Blvd. They've only been open about two weeks, if that. The staff was incredibly nice, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face: Howard from the Garland range. I don't know his last name, but anyone who's gone to the Garland range in the last few years knows him. He also gives private instruction, which I plan to utilize so he can show me how to handle my shotgun..
The only other experience I've had with an indoor range is The Bullet Trap in Plano; otherwise I shoot at the outdoor range in Garland. What I can say is that the front area is nice and the shooting area is very clean and spacious. There is a lot of depth behind the line to move around, and there is a range officer back there at all times, changing out in shifts every half hour or so. The shooting benches are lower than what I'm used to, by at least a foot. This is noticeable for me because I'm only 5'1". I found it very comfortable. The sides of the lanes are some kind of super solid polymer construction, going all the way up so that hot casings not your own don't come raining down on your head (another big thing for me, given my height, or lack thereof!), and it also seemed to help with sound. It is climate controlled and the air is filtered and rotated, so it feels fresh. No gunsmokey smell (although I don't mind that, really) and it's almost like shooting outside in the fresh air.
Pricing for non-members is $20 per lane, all day. For two shooters in the same lane, the second shooter gets $5 off so it's $35 total for two shooters sharing a lane. They have memberships that seem like a good deal, too. All in all a very positive experience and I will definitely go back. Link to their website: Eagle Gun Range
