Did front brakes on my old Chevy. Less than $100 for rotors and pads. Took me 1/2 hr. (well, 1 hr with gathering tools beforehand and then putting them up after)
My buddy fell another victim to a Groupon scam and paid $1800 for all 4 brakes on his SUV. They charged him for 5 hours. What a scam.
That's why I do all my work on my vehicles myself.

Didn't work on the vehicles but finally decided to get my old compressor wired up and will start on airlines tomorrow.

    I know there are a few off-road junkies here…

Put some Camburg shackles and a Deaver minipack on my Silverado.

The shackles correct the leaf geometry with more positive-arch at ride height, so I get a bit more travel plus a smoother ride. The leaf doesn’t immediately go into negative arch like it did with the stock shackle, which had the leaf almost flat at ride height.

The minipack replaces the factory overload with a progressive spring pack. It compresses easier and doesn’t rebound as harshly. Combined with the Kings and 17” wheels, she truly rides like a Caddy now

Impressive improvement in ride quality, almost like hauling a few hundred pounds in the bed. I also removed the rear 1” lift block so she sits almost level now.

The trade-off is a lot more squat under load. I’m willing to live with that…I had (12) 60-lb bags of concrete in there and it did squat quite a bit, but was definitely manageable in a pinch.

Beautiful truck mate! I'm running deavers leafs and aftermarket hangers on my mid travel prerunner...she floats through the rough stuff.

    Have you posted your prerunnner?

I’m trying to keep myself interested so I don’t get some crazy idea like getting a new-truck payment

I got my pickup inspected early this week. It passed but the guy that inspected asked if I had a pulley going out because he heard a bearing noise.
Well, I am about 70% deaf, so I thanked him for letting me know. When I got home I popped the belt off so I could spinn things and there it was, a bad bearing in the AC clutch.
So that is what I am doing to my vehicle today, and I am none to happy about it.

At least you're not broke down on the highway. Many years ago my VW bug quit running right up the street from my apartment. Coasted in, I had rebuilt the motor and flywheel bolt came loose. I was able to pull the motor and tighten the flywheel bolt correctly right at the curb.

In your favor on that one, pulling the engine on an old VW is easier and quicker than changing the starter on some other cars.

Maybe, but my memory fails me more often than not so here's a driveway shot. My two girls have already claimed both vehicles...before too long I'm probably gonna be mobbing a Camry.

    Sweet!
Brenthel Bros / BajaKits long travel?
    Bed cage in the back?
    Bumpstops or…bypasses?

I’m probably going to put a Dirt King LT setup with a bed cage as the next big step.

Just gotta wait for the boys to get older first

It's mid travel so nothing too fancy. Brenthel aka bajakits up front and deavers with hangers out back, tuned Fox shocks with reservoirs on all for corners. It's strapped in the rear with bump stops all around, not caged but running a spare method and 35" combo on a 4loFab mount in the bed. I'm down to play, hard.

Another installment of Vmax the Chronicles of Shitbox happened today
Bought me a $60 Amazon LED light bar..
Damn nice bar and wiring kit

    I fabricated some..here we go.
I wanted to mount it on the middle bar of the grilled guard like this

the idea was to take some left over angle iron and make mounts
    1000020407.jpg

    1000020408.jpg

I used a old 4X4 to drill the bolt hole
    1000020409.jpg

    1000020410.jpg

I fit them and welded them to the backside of the honeycomb steel grating

I also welded a 5/6 grade 8 nut on top of three hole to be able to holt them without having a back up wrench
Then after getting them mocked up , I added more steel to the front to box them in and make them secure

    1000020419.jpg

This light has the center section of lights facing down and the outer ones straight ahead

Hot wire to 12 V and then ran the rocker switch through the firealwall in mounted where it was easy to see but unlikely to be hit by my knee
    1000020420.jpg

Pretty happy with how it turned out

Are you originally from Texas? That looks like a desert truck with those mods.

Where do you usually wheel in Texas?

Born and raised on the south side of Houston. The truck definitely doesn't fit in around here, turns quite a few heads with wide body glass fenders on 35's, makes my lifted turd gen 4runner on 33's look small. A friend of mine built it in 2022 and sold it to me for way too cheap as he wanted another Model A roadster. I'll wheel the 4runner anywhere except mud, the truck sees almost zero drive time to be honest. I'm working with my ex to get passports for my girls, gonna be Baja bound for some prerunning and beach adventures and catch the finish of the baja1000 in November of 2024.

Reconnected the transmission lines. After thinking that I could just put a hose one to the other forgot they were high pressure so sprayed some transmission fluid on the driveway. Put the battery in, a bit of water and started the El Camino up after about two months. New rebuilt carb runs great. I think I have to pull some timing or idle out of it though. Need to finish installing the A/C.
