As I was leaving the dude behind the counter said “you sure you dont want that DW?”….

If my trip gets cancelled I am going back and walking out minus $5k
You better get to Africa, I'm planning on living my safari vicariously thru yours. It's as close as I'll ever get.

Unless I win the lotto then I'll take everyone on a safari.

Well some of you know I am headed to Africa for a hunting safari this may. I decided to test my willpower by stopping by my LGS. With a sizeable pile of money for Africa burning a hole through my wallet, I figured Id try out some pistols that are in my list to buy once I get back

    1. S&W all metal competitor - WOW an awesome edition of the M&P. The trigger was nothing like the polymer models, had some takeup with a very light break. I think I might buy this to use as my church carry gun with an SRO
    2. S&W 1911sc e series scandium 1911 - Lightweight, front stippling is good but not as good as dw,great trigger but slide takes effort to pull back. Not sure how the light frame would do with 45 recoil
    3. Dan Wesson Pointman 9 - Simply outstanding in everyway. The slide is like butter. Effortless to move.Trigger is probably the I best have ever felt. Weight and balance are perfect. Front checkering is aggressive as it should be.
    4. Beretta 92x SA only model - This pistol would be excellent but the front stippling is non existent. Wth beretta? Trigger is excellent. I think id still buy one but the smoothness in the grip is not good. RDO ready though
I am thinking DW pointman or specialist, then the m&p competitor. I also saw that Glock released the model 28 and will probably get one of those

I havent even brushed on my rifle to buy list yet. Anyone own an m&p competitor?

I want to wish you a safe and fun hunting trip to Africa ahead of time.

    Take care!

    Gunz are icky.
    My LGS is so sad.
Very little inventory. It’s either Fuddtastic hunting guns or polymer crap.
On the rare occasion something good comes in it’s gone in minutes. You would think they would try to stock more of those types of firearms. Every time the FedEx guy drops off boxes they’re full of plastic shit.
    Go figure.

I didnt think I would like the vertec frame but it was surprisingly nice
The 92x performance isn't a real vertec. They are iirc slightly thicker, and the beaver tail forces a slightly lower and more vertical grip.

I get failures to lock back every single time with vertecs, but not with the 92x performance.

So what you’re saying is @MTA is cheating on me? We’ve traded guns so much we have started trading our own guns back to each other.

    MTA is a slacker.
There is a distinct lack of Hi-Point range reports emanating from his general direction.
Did he get his Hi-Point from you?

Funny you should mention that. When @MTA posts his new purchases, I’m usually wondering how long it will be before it becomes available to me. When he posted that thing, all I could think was HELL NO! Not interested in that trade.

What game animal are you seeking in Africa? I am going in five years to hunt the Kudu.
