Oh, it’s an option. But there is now more to determining what constitutes a pistol instead of what the law states. To include manufacuter marketing material and public usage. And because ALL ARs with a buffer tube have surface area that is shoulderable, they are all SBRs regardless.
Unless the barrel is at leasv16”, right?

At >16” barrel, you leave pistol territory and enter into and OAL >26” land or it’s a weapon made from a rifle and then it’s still subject to an NFA stamp.

Seriously, ATF was not fucking around this time; they are effectively saying any firearm that could accept any type of accessory could effectively be declared an SBR.

Even most of the parts that might be used to bring some pistols into compliance seem largely unavailable/sold out.

For instance, I have a 4 1/2" AR-22 built on a stripped receiver using a CMMG dedicated 22 conversion bolt that doesn't need a buffer tube to operate, but I can't even find a threaded plug for the receiver...

That's just one example... I don't even want to talk about the others!

Just exploring options at this time...

    ....

But if DOJ is lying in their statement above, then that’s even more Machiavellian then I usually give political appointees credit for; that’s real bureaucratic evil.
You owe me a keyboard. (Coffee spew!) :roflfunny:

Seriously, Thank You for keeping us up on this; very much appreciated. Just sayin.

Still going to sit and wait to see what will play out in the courts, but went ahead and moved a large group of braced pistols to a trust today. I can always move them back with a dated notarized stamp. Or destroy the notarized transfer from today and go back to original. I got options.

I’d like to know how to do that. I had to pay and wait when I moved stuff.

You have a family member who works for the ATF?

    Yep

He is technically the ATF Liaison Officer for our quadrant of the state, He got his degree in “Criminal Justice”, did 2 tours as a USMC M.P. Past 3 or 4. years, he works full-time w/ ATF.
And you're also trying to stirr up all kinds of mischief in various threads.

    Hmmmmm

What did the gooberment catch you with that they used against you? Raymond.

No American with any personal integrity works for the ATF.

Some good perspective from a GOA lawyer.

If you're on the fence about registering a braced pistol during the "amnesty" period, you should definitely watch this one.

Dear sirs: Please send me a tax stamp for my illegal SBR. Enclosed is a photo of me, my SBR, my finger prints, and my address.

What does moving firearms into a trust do exactly? I understand usage of those within the trust but what extra benefits are there, if any?

^^GOA finally figured it out and a huge reason why I’m saying patience will be a virtue. All those F1s that time out on the background check will be proof of possession of an SBR by a denied individual.

BATFE will have all the info in the world for enforcement actions.

I think I'm missing something. If anyone sending in an F1 only has 88 days to have the ATF do their BG check, how has anyone that has said they've waited for 6,8 or 12 months in the past get a stamp? Wouldn't they have timed out too?

The clock starts ticking when ATF formally begins the background check, not the day you submit the application.
