Look at NY AR ban..mass non-compliance..this will be the same only on a national level. They haven't done much in NY about it..imagine trying to on a national level?
I hope you are right, I really really do. But based on the number of people on r/NFA, Arfcom, here, and many other places happy to get a “free” SBRs and asking how to use e forms to file a form one, I think you are wrong.

Realistically, most people are going to comply for a variety of reasons. The guys on internet forums are already a step deeper than most firearms owners and don’t mind a tax stamp.

There’ll be a few 85-yr old widows that won’t comply because they don’t even know about their late husband’s AR pistol. Nothing’s going to happen to them, but when grandma dies and the estate gets liquidated, there’ll be some issues and .gov will allow some to make right and string others up.

There’s some who will remain blissfully ignorant and not comply and there’s others who, on Day 61, ATF will begin enforcement actions because the case is just waiting for the clock to run out so examples can be made an publicized.

Then there’s the subset like CJ Grisham who’re going to publicly be assholes about it just to for the publicity yet will quietly make sure they do the needful.

Me? I’m not going into debt with the government and that’s all I’ll say about that.

Fair enough, so everyone will just keep their "pistol carbines" locked away? I don't have a private range, you may.

I shoot my suppressor most on one of my pistols with a brace. There's no way in hell I will let it sit at home in jail when I was going to sbr one lower anyhow. I'll just rotate uppers now and drill out the pinned flash hiders and brakes.

You have to do what is right for you but that is exactly what they are wanting.

Also have you ever been harassed at the range in the past asking for your “papers” on your gun? With Texas being a 2nd amendment sanctuary state I don’t think you have to worry about Texas LE and they (ATF) don’t have enough agents to cover every gun range out there.

    Here
Have they issued an urgent message that they will be filing suit?

No, they have not issued an urgent message that they will be filing suit. Urgent alerts are generally not issued for news of what is being done by the GOA.

This is from the GOA website:

"Gun Owners of America is currently pursuing multiple actions to defeat this unconstitutional ATF overreach on America’s 2nd Amendment Rights.

The first is to work with members of Congress to overturn the rule via the Congressional Review Act.

The Congressional Review Act allows members of Congress to introduce a Joint Resolution of Disapproval to reverse any agency rule or action they deem unconstitutional.

Of course, if Congress doesn’t cooperate, GOA will not give up. We are prepared to file a lawsuit immediately and fight this subversion of the lawmaking process in the court system."

You can read the entire article on the GOA website here,

How long should I wait so the decision is clearly mine?

I haven't ever been harassed for papers, although 7 or 8 years ago an RO asked if I had an sbr stamp for an HK53. He was challenging on whether not my gun was an NFA item. It had a fake can over the barrel.

I think that the pre-written letters from the GOA may actually have a greater impact because it lets them know that the millions of GOA members are against anything that is anti-2A. And it also lets them know how powerful the GOA is and that helps the GOA lobbyists.
All I can tell you is what I have had related to me by legislators.

    No.

But he could make you leave if you don't, I am guessing.
Not that he would ask anyway.
    Just added in a possibility.
Our Private club states that a Tax stamp must be provided if requested by an RSO. So in this situation I would think Yes, but this is a private club and you agree to those rules when you join. I imagine if a request is made and denied. it would be reported to the Board of Directors. I have never been asked for my Tax Stamp.

A dear friend of ours, who has been an FFL for 60 years (said he's giving it up next year), just got this email invitation from the ATF:

    *******************************
Invitation to Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs)

Stabilizing Brace Virtual Training on WebEx
US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

On January 13, 2023, the Attorney General signed ATF final rule 2021R-08F, “Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached ‘Stabilizing Braces” amending ATF’s regulations to clarify when a rifle is “designed, redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder.” This includes a weapon that is equipped with an accessory, component, or other rearward attachment (e.g., a “stabilizing brace”), that provides surface area that allows the weapon to be fired from the shoulder, provided other factors (as described in the rule) indicate the weapon is designed, made, and intended to be fired from the shoulder. The final rule is effective on the date of publication in the Federal Register.

ATF invites you to participate in a virtual training directed at FFLs to assist you in better understanding the final rule. Training will be conducted through WebEx on the following dates/times:

    Tuesday, January 31: 10 – 11:30 a.m. ET
    Tuesday, January 31: 2 – 3:30 p.m. ET
    Wednesday, February 1: 10 – 11:30 a.m. ET
    Wednesday, February 1st: 2 – 3:30 p.m. ET
To attend either session on Tuesday, January 31, please click on this link at the time of the training:
    (link removed by me)

To attend either session on Wednesday, February 1, please click on this link at the time of the training:
    (link removed by me)

Additionally, guidance on the Final Rule can be found at: https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regula...ilizing-braces

If you have any questions about the virtual training, or the Final Rule, please email ...

Our friend is in Massachusetts , so unknown if the invite/ training dates was just for that area, or sent out nationwide.

Seriously, what’s an LEO legally capable of doing?
SBRs are still illegal in Texas under 46.05, right?
Does HB2622 protect residents of Texas from the ATF's attempt to reclassify pistol braces as SBRs?
No, all that does it prevent the feebs from asking local law enforcement to do things like direct traffic flow and such while they are doing feeb shit.

Real question is if the feebs are being shot at and call local LEOs for help, will they respond?
    Stocks it is then.
Keep in mind there are forum members who think it's morally acceptable to snitch, forum members with ATF family members, and probably some forum members directly on the ATF payroll as well.

…No, all that does it prevent the feebs from asking local law enforcement to do things like direct traffic flow and such while they are doing feeb shit….
It doesn’t prevent any federal agents from asking local/state LEOs anything they want.

HB922 was codified in Sec. 1.10. ENFORCEMENT OF CERTAIN FEDERAL LAWS REGULATING FIREARMS, FIREARM ACCESSORIES, AND FIREARM AMMUNITION.

    It covers

    (b) Notwithstanding any other law, an agency of this state, a political subdivision of this state, or a law enforcement officer or other person employed by an agency of this state or a political subdivision of this state may not contract with or in any other manner provide assistance to a federal agency or official with respect to the enforcement of a federal statute, order, rule, or regulation that:
    (1) imposes a prohibition, restriction, or other regulation that does not exist under the laws of this state; and
    (2) relates to:
    (A) a registry requirement for a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition;
    (B) a requirement that an owner of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition possess a license as a condition of owning, possessing, or carrying the firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition;
    (C) a requirement that a background check be conducted for the private sale or transfer of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition;
    (D) a program for confiscating a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition from a person who is not otherwise prohibited by the laws of this state from possessing the firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition; or
    (E) a program that requires an owner of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition to sell the firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition.
    (c) Subsection (b) does not apply to a contract or agreement to provide assistance in the enforcement of a federal statute, order, rule, or regulation in effect on January 19, 2021.

The Sanctuary State statute is effectively meaningless.
