Fair enough, so everyone will just keep their "pistol carbines" locked away? I don't have a private range, you may.

I shoot my suppressor most on one of my pistols with a brace. There's no way in hell I will let it sit at home in jail when I was going to sbr one lower anyhow. I'll just rotate uppers now and drill out the pinned flash hiders and brakes.

Not everyone. I carry a 300BO in a bag, most of the time, especially when I'm out with my wife and kids. I'm leaving the brace on and I won't be registering any of my other 7 or so pistols, or pistol conversion kits. I'm done. My wife and I had a serious conversation years ago. We will no longer abide by any further gun opinions/rules/laws whether it's from congress or the atf. Do I fear legal repercussions? No, not really. Do I think it's possible I will be found out? Yes, but unlikely, and should that day come, I am prepared to deal with it.

The way I see it is this. With all of our rights being trampled on these days, and surely worse to come, when does abiding by immoral and unconstitutional laws stop meaning you're a good citizen and start meaning you're a coward and a willing slave to a tyrannical body of power hungry, evil men? You have to draw the line somewhere and that very serious and sad conversation my wife and I had, established and defined that line. I will be passive where I am treated passively and I will react to violence with violence.

After that line was drawn, I've not really had to face decisions like this, until now. This is the first true test of my being resolute, concerning that line and I can confidently say that I will prove to have a spine. I pray I am simply left alone to enjoy my rights with my family. My family, being the key to the principle. Should I abandon the principle for something as simple as having a piece of plastic on a firearm that I am rightfully and legally allowed to own and carry, then clearly I would never be brave enough to stand up to tyranny in the protection of their rights in any other situation. And so I stand behind that line and against this unjust "ruling", with a stern intent to not comply.

Pray for me. I'm serious. Pray that I'm left alone, pray that our nation does a one eighty and repairs our broken system, pray for anyone else who will be taking the position I am taking, pray for our enemies - the men and women who have joined entities that require them to take an oath that those entities make impossible to uphold, pray for our enemies - the men and women who with clear minds intend to enslave and subjugate us, pray for the fallen men and women who've died in war protecting rights that we find easy to surrender due to our obsession with comfort and our pride of life, pray for yourselves - those of you who lack the courage to draw that line and stand ready and willing to defend what's on your side of that line, and most importantly, pray for our children and the coming generations, that they will have the rights we enjoyed and not because they did what we couldn't and fought to reclaim them, but because we -their fathers and grandfathers refused, with every drop of blood in our bodies, to forfeit them.

God bless you all and yours, God bless our great republic of Texas, and God help these United States of America.

If I have a legal rifle and pull a USGI stock off it then replace the USGI stock with an SBA3, have I made an SBR?

For this question, there are no AR pistols in possession.
No, that is perfectly legal. As long as the rifle barrel is over 16 inches, it is not a short barrel rifle.

Whether a rifle is short barreled is completely dependent on the caliber. I would say 16 is getting short for a 7.62x51, but wouldn't consider anything over 11 "short" for an 5.56.

Yeah, I know how the ATF defines it but they can choke on a big one.

I just wonder how many BATFE agents are asking themselves if they are willing to put their lives on the line to enforce this ruling. Given the general attitude toward their agency, I wouldn't be surprised if a few folks decide to turn their "illegal" weapon in at the office....bullets first....
Based on past history, citizens will just roll over.

Sounds like it. But I have not read in detail enough to say for sure.

The notice is 180-plus pages and I’m working my way thru the final rule part.

The receiver extension part is why I ask that question.

In other news, add a few million more e F1s and I’ll be surprised if they all get processed in 120 days. Wonder what this does e-form 4 processing times. It’s almost as though DOJ knows ATF can’t process this stuff in a timely manner.

Let’s go the other way thing. If I own an AR pistol today and it’s has a buffer tube, and no brace is possessed, has my pistol automagically become an SBR?
That's something they left a bit ambiguous. They mention any surface area that allows the firearm to be shouldered could make it an SBR. But they do not define the surface area.

And that’s the problem, being entirely subjective. It’s almost as though they effectively decided decided “anything that looks like a rifle is now a rifle” and that’s changing the law on what a pistol is.

That ^^ is the best thing I've read online, ever.

Well done, Sir. I've kept a copy to read when or if I ever forget who I am.

    Thank you.

Yep. Seems like they want to call all AR pistols SBRs. So now I'm confused as to whether removing (and destroying) the brace makes an AR pistol legal without registering it.

I humbly thank you for the kind compliment.

The simple fact that you'd keep anything, in effort to hold yourself to a standard, tells me that not only will you never forget who you are, but you will consistently grow in a positive direction, while continuing to learn even more about yourself. This nation needs people like you. So, thank YOU.

That's the point, if the time to register one is so long people will just flat out not get the items. As it is I'm going to end up waiting almost 2 years for my second suppressor because of a **** up at the ATF.

By the way the 3 "pistols" I own are going to remain pistols. They aren't SBRs.
