Man, I don't mean this in a disrespectful way but...has anyone considered the possibility she may be in the early stages of dementia? The stories you're sharing sound an awful lot like my father's behavior when reality started slipping for him, including the touches of paranoia you've related (the sign outside, and a supposed intruder who locks the door behind him).
I have my suspicions, but Mrs Pronstar says she’s been like this her whole life

It's not their fault it just is what it is.

I just vent a bit in this thread.

She’s always with grandpa when watching The Boy.
And we won’t put her in a situation that she can’t handle.

We had hoped grandma and grandpa would have been able to help a bit more with watching The Boy, but once they moved in, we’re thankful that we can keep a watchful eye on them.

Yeah, it tends to take less than idea personality traits and slowly ramp them up. With my dad, he was always kind of an asshole (Mom did seriously amounts of quality control on him on a daily basis, it turns out) so when he started getting paranoid and belligerent it took a while to realize something was different rather than him just being "in rare form".

Good luck, Pron. I hope it's just her being her.

I’ll be selling my 12 acres that’s turn key and moving north of ennis or any other place I see that’s a nice home.

Main reason is the older the in laws get the closer I’m getting to have to take care of a family member that is handicapped. Once they are worm food I’ll have to handle that responsibility.

Other reasons are Navarro country. I won’t give that country another cent again. Also the next time I buy property it will be large triple digit acreage. When you buy smaller lots things expand so fast it’s still like living in town. So I’ll just flip what I have and get a nice house and select the neighbors as best I can. Sometimes living in a city can be more peaceful than the country. Here’s the thing: so many people are moving to the country that don’t belong or are morons. Old place in Bedford was actually more quiet than any property owned by myself or anyone I know except one. People seem to think once they move in the country they can do stupid shit. I ain’t helping people where I live anymore. You wanna meet god, you do you.

Texas is so crowded. Not to sound like a dork but when I moved to this state I liked all the signs that read keep Texas friendly and don’t drive like an asshole. And I know I’m a transplant but I keep seeing more and more self absorbed cock suckers I just wanna tell to leave.

Actually for property next time, I’ll probably just buy undeveloped land for shooting and hunting and end up posting a thread to have members help keep a watch on things or clean up trash from storms and in return they can use/hunt as they please.

The place directly next to me on the Northside of my property line is up for sale. Buy it & we'll have 21 acres together.... like your FIL & his neighbors.

Spent some time at the place my (legally <step> daughter - but in my eyes MY baby girl) my daughter just inherited from her mother and her current husband....

I divorced her 25 years ago when her lying and stealing (drained my 401K and told me "tough luck") became too much. She was always high maintenance and on the paranoid side, but I truly loved her and kept hoping we could get past it...no such luck.

As it turns out, the guy she married (my ex-SO partner) didn't quite get the bargain he thought....early on, he learned he had to keep ALL bank information secret, and ensure that no credit cards/checkbooks were left out. Apparently, about 6 years ago she REALLY went off the deep end - to the point that she moved into a separate bedroom with a deadbolt lock and peephole in the door. She ended up dying in that room last year of an aneurism because her husband didn't realize anything was wrong for a couple of days. He passed about 6 months later - likely the most peaceful 6 months in decades. Sad, really - but he "got" what he THOUGHT he wanted.

That visit impacted me far more than I would have thought - there were some pictures around, and I saw the "KEEP OUT" sign she'd posted on her door. I was saddened to think that she'd fallen so far - but from personal experience I knew there was nothing that could have been done to have helped her - her own daughter would tell you that she was pure poison.

Had to go to the city planning commission meeting tonight, for the zone variance to build a carport that the city is making me build, because we’re converting the garage to a unit for the in-laws.

It makes no sense that I need to get approval for something they are making me build, but that’s a battle I wasn’t willing to fight.

Two neighbors showed up in opposition.
Neighbor #1 was concerned with property values. The commissioner told him that converting the garage to living space is increasing the value of my home, and all the homes around me. He quickly changed his mind and now supports it.

Neighbor #2 showed up, basically to complain about my mini barn/shed that she doesn’t like.
But since it was permitted, and not even an agenda item, the commissioner let her ramble for 2 minutes, then asked me if I wanted to rebut anything she said?

I basically said I have nothing to add regarding the agenda items. And then the commission voted to approve.

Now I need to go to the next city council meeting, where they will make the final decision. But 99% of the time they side with the planning commission, I’ve been told.

When we got home, I told my MIL that the city will soon remove the sign from our yard, so hopefully now people will stop trying to peek inside our upstairs bathroom LOL
Sweet Jesus this is why Ive always lived in the country my whole life.

City approved everything, so we will start construction this week!

One of my wife’s cats was in poor health so we put the cat down at the vet.

I was tasked with burying it in the backyard.

MIL offers to help dig the hole.
I tell her the ground is rocky and it’s not easy to dig, so I’ll handle it.

She says that she and FIL will go out, I can dig a scoop, hand her the shovel, she can dig a scoop, then the FIL, then back to me.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

She insists the hole will get dug twice as fast this way.

Me, not wanting to dig a small hole for the next 6 hours using this method, told her I’d handle it.

MIL told my wife that I must really like to work harder and not smarter LMAO

So Mrs Pronatar and her mom had a blowout yesterday.

Mrs Pronstar was going to the chiropractor, was going to take Baby Rowdy since he was a little fussy but goes to sleep instantly in the car.

MIL says she will watch Baby Rowdy.

Mrs Pronstar is hesitant, Baby Rowdy likes two things: sleep and The Boob (ok make that three things). She doesn’t want Baby Rowdy crying the whole time.

MIL insists it will be fine.
Mrs Pronstar falls for it…she goes to the Chiro, and when she gets home, Baby Rowdy is wailing.

Mrs Pronstar asks “how long has he been crying?”

MIL says “from the moment you walked out the door, he’s been crying the entire time”.

That was not the right answer.

So this happened over the summer. I thought I had blocked the memory LOL

I’ll preface this with my MIL’s odd obsession with paper towels. She uses about a roll every two days, and they’re literally everywhere. To the point where, if she uses them to wipe up something wet, there’s a good chance I’ll see them drying in the sink, as if she’s gonna re-use them.

Her obsession is my PITA, because I’m picking them up constantly and throwing them away. Plus they ain’t cheap…and they take up a ton of room.

At any rate, I walked into the kitchen and there’s a frozen chicken sitting in the counter. The chicken is atop - you guessed it - a few paper towels and literally nothing else.

This fucking chicken is thawing and the whole countertop is wet with raw chicken water

So I put it in a plate after disinfecting the countertop.

There’s no punchline to this one, I was just peeved…still am, evidently LOL
