Most men start out with open minds and develop their thinking towards conservatism when they have to work hard for whatever they may own and then keep it from others who may wish to take it from them. As for your original question..no, I'm not a full fledged Republican nor Democrat, nor member of ANY political party. I refuse to do so. President Washington warned us in his farewell speech of the dangers of political parties as a whole. He admonished us to introspectively consider the good of the nation. Our two party system is incredibly divisive pitting "us against them" on every issue. Believe me that every consideration a politician has is towards power. Achieving, keeping, growing and increasing power. Power over every one of us.

Its good, though, that you asked your question. It shows that you are a thinking man. I hope that you can glean from all of the (so far) 57(!) pages of comments the emotions your question his evoked from everyone. Learn from their responses that they may help you understand and form your own beliefs and be your own man.
