I have always voted for the best man regardless of party affiliation, however since Democrats now represent thier party vice their people and vote as a block... I now vote as a block to all Democrats even if the Republican or Independent is weak. I liked Trump's policies but not the man, hope that he does not run, but if he does I will vote for him. Okay guys welcome to shoot from the hip for my failure to adhere to the TGT "party" line;)

    I guess I don’t have much of a life.

I just caught-up by reading about 50 pages from where I left off here a couple days ago… entertaining…. fortunately I didn’t have to see any of the posts from the ignored fork.

    Maybe its worth reminding ourselves:

"and have a somewhat open mind" Well of course you do young feller; you're 21 years old. You haven't lived long enough to develop into a cynical, hard core conservative like some of us old codgers yet. I'm pushin' 70 and make Atilla the Hun look like a liberal. However, when I was 18 to 22, I was a far left leaning, open minded liberal. Even John Wayne admitted to being a liberal on the Dick Cavet Show waaay back once upon a time. (Youtube search that statement.) The definition was different in those days. Most men start out with open minds and develop their thinking towards conservatism when they have to work hard for whatever they may own and then keep it from others who may wish to take it from them. I hope that in time you will do the same.

As for your original question..no, I'm not a full fledged Republican nor Democrat, nor member of ANY political party. I refuse to do so. President Washington warned us in his farewell speech of the dangers of political parties as a whole. He admonished us to introspectively consider the good of the nation. Our two party system is incredibly divisive pitting "us against them" on every issue. Believe me that every consideration a politician has is towards power. Achieving, keeping, growing and increasing power. Power over every one of us.

Its good, though, that you asked your question. It shows that you are a thinking man. I hope that you can glean from all of the (so far) 57(!) pages of comments the emotions your question his evoked from everyone. Learn from their responses that they may help you understand and form your own beliefs and be your own man.

WASHINGTON—Senate Democrats are moving forward on the costliest and most ambitious effort ever by the U.S. to address climate change—powered in part by benefits for fossil fuels and the broader energy industry.

The proposed $369 billion compromise bill struck by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) includes tax incentives aimed at channeling billions of dollars to wind, solar and battery developments that put clean power onto the grid.

For those not keeping track, between the chip bill and this one, that’s nearly 3/4 of a trillion more dollars congress spent this week alone.

At this point, what difference does it make?

Honestly, I’m furious this shit is making it through yet 41 Rs joined with Chuck Shumer to tank the PACT act.

Fûck them all. Every single last one of them. And yes, both Cruz and Cornyn fûcked veterans over after both having promised to pass this bill last month.
