I sent this to the Senator
    Here is a voice for no compromise no surrender on 2A from Kurt Schlichter in Town Hall;

"You gun fascists can kiss my Schumer and we keep our guns." (It gets even better and with an effective argument against leftist compromise offers.)

That's just Kurt's opening line but I think you know where his argument is heading.

I am glad to read that many others on this forum and elsewhere have made their convictions know to not only Senator Cornyn but any and all elected reps who don't support and defend 2A.

Now he is sending out the below:

Just like you, I’ve been deeply unsettled by the news of rising crime across our country.

In fact, a non-partisan poll recently found that 80 percent of Americans share our concerns about crime and violence, so we know it’s not just you and me.

Rising crime rates have caused many politicians to change their tune on “defund the police” efforts. Dallas, New York City, and Baltimore all reversed previous cuts to police funding just to name a few.

And while there’s no question law enforcement plays a big role in stopping crime, we have to also look at the causes of this spike, including the crisis along our southern border.

In the last month with available data, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered more than 234,000 migrants along our southern border – the highest number in the entire history of the Department of Homeland Security.

XXXX – I am in no way suggesting that all of these individuals are dangerous criminals.

But we know that the massive influx of migrants at our southern border – even those with legitimate asylum claims – pulls resources away from catching traffickers, drug smugglers, and other violent criminals.

That’s why I joined with Senator Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat from Arizona, to introduce the Bipartisan Border Solutions Act, an important bill to address the biggest problems at the border.

Our bill would deter illegal migration, give U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement & CBP the resources they need to complete their mission and humanely remove migrants who lack realistic asylum claims, and speed up processing to get Border Patrol back on the front lines stopping criminals before they make their way to your neighborhood.

If you agree with me that we must do more to keep our communities safe by addressing the causes of this crime spike, as well as supporting our brave law enforcement officers, please take a moment to respond to the brief question below.

    For Texas,

    John

Did y'all receive a response? I did. It was canned, of course. He tried to cite all his past efforts to protect our 2A rights (not a great way to start a conversation and instill confidence). In conclusion he says, "I will continue to champion the Second Amendment and work to provide resources for individuals with mental health issues to help ensure that our communities our sade and our Constitutional rights are not infringed."

The degenerate who perpetrated the killing in Uvalde was indeed a sick effer; but I suggest he was simply evil, not mental.

    Evil, amoral, p.o.s.

    Tough to legislate against evil.
    Nope no response

This is the response I received:

    Dear Buzz:

Thank you for contacting me regarding federal firearms laws. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this important matter.

On May 24, 2022, a gunman maliciously took the lives of 21 innocent people, including 19 children at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. My heart goes out to the loved ones of those who lost their lives as they grieve such a cruel tragedy. This is an incredibly difficult time for the Uvalde community, Texas, and our Nation. My office is coordinating with federal, state, and local officials to assist the people of Uvalde as they navigate the aftermath of this senseless act of violence.

As your Senator, I am committed to focusing on the root causes of mass violence, fully enforcing current law, and addressing improvements to mental health care in America. I will continue to push for effective solutions that protect communities and preserve citizens' Second Amendment rights. As a strong proponent of the Second Amendment, I believe it is essential to safeguard law-abiding citizens' constitutional right to own and use firearms for lawful purposes. Restricting this right runs counter to the intent of our Founding Fathers, who expressly guaranteed that citizens would retain the right to keep and bear arms.

It is encouraging that the Supreme Court has upheld the will of our Founders and re-affirmed the ideals upon which our country was established. The Supreme Court's ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) affirmed that Americans' constitutional rights remain secure from federal government intrusion. I was proud to sign an amicus brief to the Supreme Court supporting the fundamental right of American citizens to keep and bear arms. This landmark ruling continues to have implications far beyond the District of Columbia. In the 2010 McDonald v. City of Chicago decision, the Supreme Court struck down the arbitrary gun ban in Chicago-thereby affirming that the Second Amendment protects Americans' fundamental rights against state and local encroachment.

As a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General, I have firsthand knowledge of crime-fighting policies that work, and I believe citizens' Second Amendment rights should not be restricted because of the actions of criminals. Rather, we must focus our attention on the source of violent crime: criminals who use firearms to harm innocent Americans. I believe strictly enforcing the law-and imposing tougher sentences on career criminals and violent offenders who use firearms-will reduce violence more effectively than gun or equipment bans, which primarily serve to take firearms away from law-abiding citizens.

Furthermore, I believe Americans with concealed handgun licenses should not sacrifice their safety and peace of mind when traveling between states. That is why I was proud to introduce the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2019 (S.69; 116th Congress). This bill would have allowed qualified individuals to carry a concealed handgun into, or possess a concealed handgun in another state that allows its residents to carry concealed firearms. While this bill did not pass last Congress, I look forward to working with my colleagues on furthering protection of Americans' Second Amendment rights during the 117th Congress.

As your Senator, I will continue to champion the Second Amendment and work to provide resources for individuals with mental health issues to help ensure that our communities our safe and our Constitutional rights are not infringed.

I appreciate having the opportunity to represent Texas in the United States Senate, and will continue working with my colleagues to protect our Second Amendment rights. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    JOHN CORNYN

    Friend,

Now that gun control has recently passed the House, I need to give you an urgent update coming out of the Senate.

RINO Republicans are on the brink of surrendering our Second Amendment rights.

Sources reveal that Senator John Cornyn – the chief GOP gun control negotiator – thinks a deal can reach the 60-vote threshold in the Senate.

Cornyn believes Republicans can shred the Second Amendment without facing backlash from voters in November.

I need YOUR help showing him that he’s dead wrong. Gun owners will stay home on Election Day if the Senate passes a bipartisan “compromise” on our God-given rights.

GOA has asked you to alert your Senators several times over the past week, but I want you to see why it’s so critical.

This is a battle that we can still win. And your activism is helping to keep many Republicans from compromising!

The other day, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, a Democrat from Texas, was asked by MSNBC why Republicans usually end up failing to get enough votes on gun control compromises.

She attributed a lack of gun control compromises to “Gun Owners of America” because GOA has instilled a “fear of retaliation” (her own words) in Senators who even consider shredding the Second Amendment.

In fact, she cited Republican congressman Chris Jacobs who just dropped his re-election bid following the immense backlash he received for calling for an “assault weapons” ban.

Democrat Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts also SLAMMED GOA on the House floor, citing our members’ work to pressure legislators to vote against gun control.

Your letters are getting recognized on the House floor. You help remind politicians that they’re not in Washington to serve themselves, but to serve We The People.

Thanks to you, hope is not all lost.

While GOA continues to pressure Senators to protect our God-given rights, there are also some real pro-gun Senators like Steve Daines who are pushing back against Cornyn’s proposal.

But with a whole bunch of RINOs in the Senate – like Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey, and Lindsey Graham – it’s not difficult to see how the Senate could get just 10 Republicans to vote for a gun control compromise.

That’s why we cannot take a day off from alerting the Senate.

We need to keep instilling that “fear of retaliation” in every single Senator to once again stop a gun control compromise in the Senate.

This is a battle that we can still win. But it will take ‘all hands on deck.’ Everyone needs to take action to contact their Senators right away!

I haven't received any response's to any of the contacts that I have made to his office.
Probably because he already decided to screw us.

He is not due for re-election until 2026.

He's 70 years old and was elected in 2002.

Maybe he is thinking about retiring?

Okay, I added my name to the letter. This makes 3x I’ve contacted Cornyn and the first time with Cruz, although I’m not too worried about his vote

This is the response I received yesterday. We are on a first name basis now :)

    Gary --

Like so many people in Texas and across the country, I can’t stop thinking about the 19 children and two teachers who were killed in Uvalde along with all those injured. I continue asking myself: how do we prevent this from happening again?

I want to be clear from the beginning: I am not in support of restricting or limiting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

What I am for is targeted action to expand mental health resources, enhance school safety, and keep guns out of the hands of those who already can’t legally have them.

In other words, we need to enforce the existing laws we have.

According to reports, the Uvalde shooter was isolated. He harmed himself. He had a history of fighting, threatening fellow students, and abusing animals.

These are textbook signs of someone who could pose a threat, but these signs were ignored and we saw the tragic consequences.

We need to do more to support those who struggle with emotional or mental health problems. That’s something I believe all Texans can agree on.

Another big issue is school safety. The shooter should never have been able to gain access to Robb Elementary School.

School districts need additional resources to evaluate their security measures and make needed improvements. No one should be able to walk through a door and access a classroom so easily.

Improving safety also means reviewing current protocol, developing best practices, and potentially increasing the number of school resource officers.

Gary, I want to reiterate that I simply will not support any proposal that infringes on the rights of law-abiding gun owners in Texas or across the country.

I believe we can address some of the failures that allowed the tragedies in Uvalde, Buffalo, and elsewhere to take place, while also protecting the Second Amendment for millions of law-abiding gun owners.

While the Senate continues with bipartisan talks on these issues, I want to know where you stand. If you have a moment, please answer the brief question below.

    For Texas,

    John
