Oh, almost forgot, I do not want to live in a big city, would rather be in the country or a small town. But near enough to good medical facilities and hopefully a military base.
The medical community in Tyler is expanding rapidly and has become some of the best in the state in terms of capabilities and facilities. There are many small towns in the area, although rural land is now somewhere between 10K - 20K per acre. Small tracts under 5 acres are selling for 30K+ an acre in places. No military bases though, and its about 9 hours to KC from Tyler.

Help me out here, I've having trouble understanding your responses.

Why on earth do you think that I would join a Texas-centric firearms forum to seek recommendations for dystopian liberal bastions to move to when I am trying to escape one now?
Most likely he is kidding you or he does not want you to move here. Mineral water wells is nice and then there is Weatherford, Bridgeport, and Throckmorton. Small towns except for Weatherford.

Honestly not trying to discourage your move to the Greatest state in the union - Missouri and Kansas are both constitutional carry states, IIRC. The only down side to either place is the winters get cold, and they get more tornadoes. Spring - fall are pretty nice there, and certainly the summers are no worse than a Texas summer. You could get a nice place near Ottawa (Kansas) or Overbrook and be close to them. I don't know if Lawrence area has gone crazy blue. I had family in eastern and southern Kansas, in addition to my Okie relatives. We visited Kansas a lot when I was a kid, and it was pretty beautiful country. Lots of fishing lakes. IIRC Pomona is/was a small town with a nice feel to it. Close enough to both Kansas City or Topeka if one needs to hit the big town for something occasionally.

I spent a month in KCMO when I was 18. My impressions back then were it was a neat place for a big city. They had working farms in the middle of town back then (2000) and people did most of their non-work doings well into the night, everything was 24 hours it seemed because at least in summer it was too damned hot to do anything in the day. Being well out into the outskirts might not be too bad.

Webb City / Joplin is nice too. Northwest Arkansas is flat out gorgeous, and I think has a more mild climate. All of those places would be closer to your kids/grand kiddos, so there must be something very special about this state to draw you to it.

Colorado cattle piss. Needs to be at least a Shiner.

The only worst tasting beer than Shiner is Lonestar. I used to deliver beer bottles to the Shiner brewery, they gave me a case of that crap. I took a drink from one, and returned the rest.

Reminds me of an old joke.

A guy from Boston was hiking around the Appalachian mountains when he came across a cabin in the back woods with an old hillbilly-looking man sitting on the front porch.

The hiker was rather thirsty so he asks the man if he had anything to drink.

The man nods his head and hands the hiker an old jug and says, "Here. Take a drink."

The drinks uncorks the jug and sniffs it, makes a face at the awful smell and says, "No thanks" and tries to hand the jug back.

Suddenly the hillbilly has a rifle in his hands, points it at the hiker and says, "DRINK!"

The hiker looks at the rifle and somehow manages to put the jug to his lips and take a huge swig.

"ACK! That's the worst thing I've ever tasted!"

The hillbilly's face breaks into a huge grin and says, "Ain't it."

The hillbilly then takes the jug back, hands the rifle to the hiker and says,

"Here, now you hold the rifle and make ME drink it."

That sounds like a joke my grand dad would tell  I appreciate the laugh.

If you like lots of traffic and big weather swings as well as sky high property taxes live in the Dallas Metro Area. In all honesty Oklahoma is a better choice due to visiting Kansas. If you want a big city then OKC or Tulsa should fit the bill. Or try Kansas City. Both Kansas and Missouri are constitutional carry and pretty conservative.

Having moved from Commifornia I can tell you that no state income tax is nice, but property taxes are right up there. So I suggest you look at things like taxes and quality of life. If you are going to be retired or working from home then you have many choices but if you will still be out there collecting a paycheck your choices are diminished. Just my input.
He said he'd like to stay away from the city and once outside a 40-mile radius of Dallas things get better very quickly despite not being all the way out in the country. I grew up in the Lewisville area back when it was 25K people. You need to find a modern version of the 1980 Lewisville like I did. Taxes in some outlying areas are not nearly as bad as inside the bubble...although all taxes are bad technically.

As soon as certain life events occur I intend to move from Massachusetts. The sooner the better, but two things have to happen first, neither of which I feel the need to discuss right now.

I am looking at two states, Texas and Wyoming. If Texas, I would like to live in Northern Texas to be close to my daughter and grandkids in KS. The Wichita Falls area is a possibility. I'd to be near a large city but not right there.

Are there any people from this area who can advise me as to places to consider, and more importantly, places to avoid.
I would NOT move to any place that is directly north of DFW. Wichita falls is a good pick

I live in fannin county and the urban sprawl is getting to be right at our county line. Anywhere from gainesville to paris is going to be a built up, transplant infested(no offense) shithole in 20 years

What part of WY are you considering? Most parts of the state have little infrastructure but you wont be sweating your nuts off with 110 degree summers for 6-7 straight months

Lone Star was good beer back when it was brewed by Lone Star in San Antonio.
    Miller in Plano ruined it.
