Perfectly adequate for hunting ( put those crosshairs on over 1,000 deer when I was doing that kind of thing for a living) but the long rang bullet lobbing was just for shits and giggles with it just to see if I could.
I love to lob . That is the whole purpose of this exercise.
But entually I'm going to learn. Dope book an all.
I'm getting the basics then I'm going for precision

I'm not a big Nightforce fan. Their scopes are the toughest scopes made, but their glass leaves a lot to desire. If I needed a hammer that could be used as a scope, I'd buy a Nightforce ATACR.

Kyle, Buying a used scope is just like buying anything else used, You have to know what you're buying, and trust or do some research on the person selling it.
Most guy's that pay a lot for a scope take care of their equipment. And, almost every scope you'd be looking at is covered with a Lifetime warranty, so if it happened to have a problem, it would get fixed or replaced.

The very first high end scope that I ever bought was a used Swarovski PH 4-16x50. It was several years old when I got it, and I had it for 8-10 years. I used it on several different hunting rifles over the years, and it finally stopped holding zero.
I called Swarovski, informed them that I wasn't the original owner, and they sent me a return tag. I shipped it back and they not only repaired the scope, they replaced everything that was worn for free.

Both of my S&B PMII scopes were bought used for some great deals. I bought one from a guy on the Hide, and the other from a guy on Accurate Shooter's forum. I looked at their feedback from other sales on the forum, and made sure they were long time members. And I asked them to send me pictures of the serial #'s on the scope as well as on the box to make sure they matched.
I won't hesitate to buy a quality scope used. The thing is you will never loose any money on it if you decide to sell it, as long as it remains in good condition. Buy a brand new scope, you will lose at least 1/3rd of what you paid for it if you sell it.

Do yourself a favor, keep your money in your pocket and get one of these

High end scopes are pointless unless your winning money or killing people.

And buying a Vortex product shows just how stupid you can be.
Cheap POS optics, That are almost guaranteed to break.
The Viper HD series is the only good scope that they make, and it's a boat anchor.

hehe I knew you were going to thrash him for saying vortex.

Seriously @kyletxria1911a1 I'd go with whatever @Txhillbilly says. The man has been shooting long range probably longer than I've been alive (I'm not young) and he has the experience and knowledge to share.

He has his opinions about the hardware and brands, but don't we all?

I've been pretty happy with my SWFA- SS scope. It's not top tier ~$1500, but the glass is plenty good and it tracks well. I'm kinda surprised nobody mentioned their scopes.

1,000yrds is old news. Spending big money on a scope to get there, in my opinion, is stupid. If Kyle said he was trying to get to 1760-2500yrds then my approach would be very different.

If your ever in West Texas, let me know and come shoot with us. Maybe I could learn something from ya.
