I'm looking to get out to 1k long range . I'm talking to a guy about a scope but I know nothing about long range scopes I need some help please

Kyle, There are plenty of scopes out there to choose from that will work great for 1k yard or farther.
It all depends on the features that you're wanting, and then matching up a scope that fills all the boxes. A lot depends on your budget, and whether you want to buy a brand new scope or a used scope. I've only bought two top tier scopes new, all the rest I've bought used for a great savings.

Zeiss makes some great scopes, but that one is brand new and Zeiss's first offer into the Tactical / PRS / Long range scope arena. I wouldn't buy one until it has been a proven product without issues.
As of right now, Tangent Theta and Zero Compromise are the best you can buy - $3500 - $4500+.

Then you go to S&B, Kahles, March, IOR, Nightforce, Steiner M series - $2500 - $3500.

From there you've got the Vortex Razor HD, Athlon Cronus BTR, Delta Stryker HD, Leupold Mark 5, Tract Toric HD, Steiner T series, along with the top end Bushnell & Burris scopes, with a few other's - $1200 - $2500.

The $1200 - $2500 scopes really don't give up much to the $2500 - $3500 scopes optically, but they just aren't as perfect as the top tier scopes are. In most cases, the shooter wouldn't be able to see the differences unless he / she knows what to look for.

Find a scope that has a reticle style that you like, and with the features that you want. Don't worry about the brand name on it. All of the brands listed above will suit you well.

    I'm coming to the 2500 3k range
I was always told what the rifle cost dbl on the scope. Rifle was 975.00 but I'm willing to spend 3k on a scope.
Because eventually I'm going to get a 5k plus rifle.
So I want something that out preforms me

For what it’s worth, I was able to lob 168 gr match kings into a 55 gallon drum at 975ish yards ( took a few ranging shots) with my DPMS LR308 and a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 on it. “Grouping” was nonexistent , lol, and the holes were everywhere from the top to the bottom and both edges.

I would search for a used Nightforce ATACR on Texas Gun Trader or Sniper's Hide.

    Nightforce ATACR F1 5-25x56 - MIL-XT Front Focal

Or wait for a Demo to come back in stock https://redhawkrifles.com/demo-nightforce-atacr-rifle-scope-5-25x56mm/
