I remember my grandma use to make bread every weekend for the next week. She is long gone now. Was born in 1914. My grandpa had a peanut better and jelly every day for lunch for like 30 years.
When she would make fresh cinnamon rolls the whole extended family would stop by over the course of the day as word spread.
She made most stuff from scratch. Had probably 20 or 30lbs of flour in a pull out bin in the kitchen.

They stored their flour in 55 gal. Drums. They had seven kids ,wo grand parents and two parents. Plus assorted guest they hosted. He was an Elder in the church. They had a milk cow and raised chickens, rabbits and beef cattle for food.Wait... What? Why would they put dry ice in a barrel of flour? That sounds like an expensive proposition. Wouldn't just buying flour and vacuum sealing it or storing in buckets with gamma lids be better?
Being worried about food prices has nothing to do with growing food. With that being said, we have several sticks in the fire and some more I can go into.My wife can make some good sour dough bread. Got a sour dough starter for a couple years now.
But seriously. .. if you are worried about food prices. .. why aren’t you trying to grow food?
Only other way to control costs is to buy in bulk at Sams and eat mostly a meat free diet.

We have a handfull of quail that are cranking out 3 to 4 eggs a day. Worth about 1-1.5 chicken eggs. We also have several eggs in the incubator so I can rotate them out and have jalapeño quail bacon poppers.. We have sweet potatoes in beds and some various berries in pots.
I am in the works of making some sort of aquaponic setup. Not quite there yet.
