I am not against it, but what a ridiculous double standard. Perhaps this will pave the way to undoing much of the brain dead "PC" and "Zero Tolerance" policies that have invaded our schools in recent years. Wow look at me, I am an optimist this morning. I must need coffee or something.

They're not "taking us over"- we are handing it to them.
I religiously carried a pocket knife 5th grade - HS graduation and in College till now so over 20 years dally carry. I'm a Christian.

I'm happy for them getting to keep their small daggers, all of them dulled to the point where they are ornamental.

Thinking that a Sikhs are a threat is about silly.

And this should be applauded as a step in the right direction where schools are figuring out their zero tolerance policies don't work. Or do we blindly see this as a bad thing because it's not a white kid with a buck knife getting the exception?

In the 30s & 40s most boys carried a pocketknife everywhere and including school. Some country boys hunted on the way to the school bus and left the .22 on the school bus to hunt with after getting off the bus on the way home. Who and why was the "Nanny State" a product of ? Today's society allows zombies to roam around anywhere they choose and they are packing guns and knives in gangs and in twos and threes so to protect ourselves from ourselves we are not allowed much leeway in self protection, but the zombies 'have it" ! Illegally of course but zombies have "rights". Thats why the jails are full of zombies but not near full enough.

    Excuse me?

The only thing that I consider "about silly" is that you missed the entire point of the article and my comments.

    OF COURSE
, I do not consider an individual Sikhs a threat.

The "THEY" to whom I was referring is the Politically Correct Biased Base who seem to make exemptions, exceptions, and excuses for most anyone who does not, shall i say, fit the pattern of the mainstream of American citizens.

The argument that the religious dagger is ornamental, dull, and could not be perceived as dangerous is mute in that the same can be said of a Catholic rosary.

The playing field should be equal. Period.

Furthermore, since you felt the need to quote me, I am at liberty to inform you that I find the dismissive, condescending attitude presented in your response to my post disrespectful and Obama-esque in nature.

The "Old" traditions were we could take knives to school. I think this shows folks are looking beyond the PC issues and letting more logic inform their ways.

i was suspended from Canyon Intermediate School, now called something else, (on the corner of 35 and 337) for reading a goldeneye strategy guide during lunch.

    this was YEARS ago.

shortly after goldeneye came ouut fro n64 actually. i got it for christmas. and bought the guide with ym own hard earned money.

    never got it back

    never forgave the bastards.

they told my folks i had violent pornography featuring substance abuse.

there was a girl in lingerie with a supressed ppk on the inside of the back cover. with a spilled martini on the floor.

    no bullshit.

Hey, me too! Only difference is that if I had been caught with that knife I would have been expelled. The double standard is what people are taking issue with. Does that school district allow all the kids to carry a small knife no matter what their faith or lack thereof is??

It's a start, a step in the right direction. Those Kirpans that they are allowing are about useless though... They aren't allowed to have much of a point or a sharp blade. New York City a compromise was reached with the Board of Education whereby the wearing of the knives was allowed so long as they were secured within the sheaths with adhesives and made impossible to draw.

One of my friends is a Sikh. He doesn't practice the religion, but that's how he was raised. His parents are very well-off and own a ton of rental properties.

This is my friend who taught me the ins and outs of AK building when we put mine together in his garage.

How about instead of getting pissed off because you're jealous and calling people childish names, you try and find a way for any kid that wants to carry a knife to school, not just Sikhs?

Also, Sikhs come from India. India is not Third World.
