Im not interested in their "duty" ammo. Thanks for the pics. I'll definitely stop by and pick up a few boxes of FMJ
As long as it goes BANG I am happy.

The single factor that is most indicative of of a handgun stopping a threat is the number of rounds on target.

The single factor that caused a "failure" to stop a threat, was lack of penetration.

Whether the target is struck by might-mighty 10mm, the Mighty 45acp, 9mm, 22lr or FMJ, soft-point, or hollow-point, is less important on the whole than how many good rounds on target you can get.

I thought I had a lead on some 7.62x51 today, but the guy has been MIA all day... oh well.

I guess you just need to know where to buy it.
The only ammo that I buy is Rimfire and 40 S&W,I load everything else that I shoot. Cost wise,it's cheaper for me to buy 1000 rounds of 40 S&W than it is to buy the components and spend the time loading them. I do load all of my defensive ammo, but target ammo isn't worth the time spent reloading it,for the amount that I shoot.
I just ordered another 1k rounds last night with free shipping, got the tracking # a few minutes ago.
    Where did you order from?

If you have fast fingers and enough patience, the trick I've found is to build a wishlist on Bass Pro/Cabelas website, and refresh pretty consistently between around 11 AM to 2 PM. Save your address, card, etc. and check out a fast as possible. Maybe not quite pre-corona prices, but I've been able to pick up several cases , and 45 by doing this. Handful of 22 bricks as well, and all prices well below whatever sits around long enough to get picked up by AmmoSeek.

That may no longer work for certain skus at BPS/Cabelas. As of two weeks ago or so, they've made some skus available in store only. I believe it mostly effects their brands but I've noticed it on others as well.

Interesting. I haven’t been on in a week or two, so haven’t looked or noticed

Hoji and oldag summed it up.

With gun sales setting new records nationwide, plus blm rioters and antifa lunatics storming neighborhoods and democrat mayors laughing when their cities are conquered (seattle) or set ablaze (minneapolis), everybody is stocking up.

Plus, everyone freaks out each Presidential election, because of the very real chance that if a democrat wins, our 2A rights will go down the toilet. That's only 4 months away.

This isn't going to end anytime soon, so buy extra when you can, or get into reloading.

the shortage has rolled into reloading components also, primers are everything but non-existant except at blackmarket prices on gun broker or similar sites, most projectiles are out of stock and not accepting backorders, powder is hit & miss, depending on what your looking for, and often, it is a matter of what you can find that will work, not what you've been using and worked up loads for.

I was fortunate and stocked up late last year when midway ran a big sale on primers and CCI was offering rebates, and I always keep a good stock of powders in 8 lb jugs

others were not so lucky and are scrambling to find components,

I have enough on hand to keep me going for at least another year, hopefully the shortage will be over by then, but to be on the safe side, I will reduce the amount of ammo that I shoot at each range session until supplies loosen up, most likely middle of next year (if Trump wins the election, If biden wins, then I should have stocked up even more)

I have bought some ammo at Academy Sports. I just keep going to the local one pretty much about every day to see what they have in stock. Prices are not too bad compared to what I've seen online from dealers or from sales at GunBroker and definitely much better than prices at local gun stores near me.

Where are you guys getting your ammo from online. Seems like everything is gone or dramatically over priced. Big box stores are done in Houston from what I can see.

I have a 300 blk and an Ak-47. The ak is relatively easy to keep feed.
I want to take a carbine fundamentals class soon and I cannot find plinking ammo at all.

Where do you get your online ammo from?

About the same here. I've given up doing anything close to looking online as I used to. I'll do a quick run down in the AM of previous days deals and then move on to other things. I've resigned myself to just picking up .22 when ever I see it available at either Walmart or Academy.

Yup.. I bought the Ruger SR22 just for this reason. It scratches the need to hear something go bang itch. In a week or so I acquired ~6,000 rnds. of 22LR. for ~5-6 cents a round. I'm still banging 9mm but not as many because of the SR22.

    advice from an old guy,

when times are good, stock up on ammo and components, this is about the fourth mass shortage of ammo and components I have experienced in my life time

when I was younger and still developing a career plus raising a family, money for ammo and reloading was limited, so I purchased ammo and loading supplies frequently but in limited quantities as finances allowed.

I have continued to stock up on ammo and loading supplies thru out my life, I have enough onhand to ride out the shortage and continue shooting for the next 8-10 months or more, but to be on the safe side, I will reduce my shooting habits in case this last longer

I will continue to purchase more when located at somewhat normal prices, as the shortage begins to end, I will stock up big time to ride out any possible future shortage that may fall upon us.

so my advice to all is to continue to stock up, even when you are confident that you have plenty, you never know when the next crisis may hit

I have in stock notices for a bunch of online vendors. It’s about all I can do nowadays.
I’m lucky to have a good stock of ammo and reloading components from the last few years of good times
