I was trout fishing on a small local city lake, frequented by cormorants, and this day a big heron hanging around. I hooked one, and when the trut surfaced, the cormorant jumped in and tried to take and got tangled in the line. While I was struggling with that, the heron swooped in and stole the fish off the hook. I only got bitten twice getting the cormorant untangled.

Bond. James Bond.
I've seen several up close, they are surprisingly small. They have one hanging from the ceiling of the Space Museum in Hutchison, KS (a great place BTW), with nose down at eye level.
