They could always build a fully-baffled range. For reference, this one is 200 meters. We're doing our best to get the Rifle range reopened, however, we have no control in the growth surrounding the range.
Only a matter of time before the commies start mandating crap like that. They could always build a fully-baffled range. For reference, this one is 200 meters.

Fairly close to major population centers, such installations could become the default due to encroachment everywhere. I wonder when we're going to start seeing these types of ranges built in Texas.
I understand; I don't want to see such things mandated, either. However, someday soon there might be places where, due to encroachment, there can be no outdoor ranges within a convenient driving distance of a major population center.Only a matter of time before the commies start mandating crap like that.
The last two times I was there they said it was closed because of water puddles on the range causing ricochets. I didn't see any puddles.
Just scrape a few inches of dirt from the field and pile it on the berm.
Good idea but looks expensive. They could always build a fully-baffled range. For reference, this one is 200 meters.

In that case, a fully-baffled range might actually be profitable. If that situation arises, I'm sure someone will build it.
And if that happens, I won't consider it crap; I'll just consider it a nice place to shoot.
Seems that would be the case, but it doesn’t work.
I followed a range outside of Valley Mills as it went through this with a completely ridiculous case against it. Tens of thousands in berm work, new shooting platforms that block view of everything but the berm, and berm slopes taken to a seemingly impossible angle. Followed the NRA safety guidelines to the letter and then some. It was still ruled insufficient and it took getting a congressman involved before the case was thrown out.
In that case it was a developer wanting to buy a neighboring property behind the suit. Property wasn’t even in line with the rifle range.

If it's about stopping a unlikely ricochet the berm will work. If it's about controlling the firearm community with overbearing regulations and outlandish costs, we will have to find another solution.
Yes Sir. Not about safety. That's one of the reasons dropping a ton of coin on a 1,000 yard fully baffled range is a bad idea.I don’t know what you think it’s about, but it’s not about safety.
