What does the GP100 do that the Model 29 won't?
    Not much.
    • It's a little smaller in the frame which is good.
    • The barrel is an inch longer than my M29 which gives me a useful increase in sight radius without making the revolver too long to conveniently carry in a holster.
    • On this particular model the trigger is narrower and smooth, something I prefer over the wide, grooved "target" trigger on my S&W (and, oddly, something I've become very picky about as I get older).

I keep looking back at this. I have a Model 29 so I shouldn't buy it but I can't quit looking. It's such a good deal on a nearly perfect do-almost-everything handgun. If I had to choose just one centerfire repeating handgun for the rest of my life, this would be on my (very) short list.

Somebody talk me out of it. Please.

You got to pay the tax
    You got pay the shipping
You got to pay the FFL
You got to loan it out to me for testing

If you buy it, it would be more like a public service to all who show up to the TGT meets you attend and get to shoot it as well. Think of all the members here you may be depriving of such an experience. :p

OK, I’ll be the voice of reason and try to talk you out of it.

It can’t shoot magnums, so you’ll have to stay aware of which hand loads you’re putting into it.

OK, that’s all I’ve got. Now go buy your new pistol, because you know you’re going to anyway.

I found another negative if you need it Ben. That 6 shooter only holds 5 shots.

But that’s also a positive if youre looking for a smaller revolver.

Glad I could muddy the waters a little more.
